As you can see I'm not one who posts much, but I must say that these boards really do rock! I have found a ton of great suggestions and insight here in terms of vendors from all of you. I'm extremely pleased with my decisions to move forward with Duet and Laurie at LABlossoms. Both of who I think are great & I'm excited to work with! Since I'm planning my wedding long distance, your posts made my trip to NY a breeze in helping to narrow down choices on who and who not to see. I got sooooo much accomplished Thanks so much!
Currently I'm struggling with one issue. Ideally I'd like to have musicians for my ceremony and cocktail hour (both of which will be at the Thatched Cottage). My thought is to have a trio that would definitely include a flute for the ceremony to provide a more elegant, classical feel and then switch up instruments for the cocktail hour to something more jazzy. I found one vendor who can do this, but we are definitely having trouble connecting to hear his demos.....but do any of you have any suggestions???? Maybe someone you used that you were pleased with? I'm trying to avoid hiring two sets of different musicians since that would definitely put me way over budget in that area
Any recos are greatly appreciated. TIA

Re: Ceremony / Cocktail Hr. Musician Suggestions
Are you having a DJ for the reception? Many DJ companies offer musicians for that purpose as well. If you hire a band, the musicians that play for your party should be able to play for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Even classical for the ceremony and jazz for cocktail hr. I had it at my wedding that way with a band.

Yeah, I hired a DJ for the reception and he could perform at the cocktail hour and ceremony too, but he does not have live musicians at his disposal He's definitely my back-up if I'm unsuccessful at finding the musicians I'm looking for.
Great Suggestions! I really appreciate the input

Re: Ceremony / Cocktail Hr. Musician Suggestions
i am using a spanish classical guitarist who plays solo, as a duet with flute or drums, or as a trio (i think even a full band too, but i was not interested in that.) it's not exactly jazz, it's earthy and festive though. if you are interested FM me-he will send you a CD demo that rocks.

HI, i am getting married at teh Thatched Cottage too! I am having musicians play at my ceremony and cocktail hour and also as the guests are arriving. All togehter it is 2 1/2 hours. I got the absolutely best price with an incredible place. They are called Ken James. I looked into a lot, a ton of places and I love Ken James and it was such a great price. They know the TC very well too which was a plus. FM me if you want all the info ill be more then happy to give it to you. Good luck.

I'm using Janet King the harpist for my ceremony and cocktail hour. You can listen to her samples here. She's an LIW vendor and is AMAZING!! My mother and I cried during her Bridal Chorus.

I also recommend Janet. I contacted her and she was booked for my day! I booked MUSICJHT, he is a piano player and he made me cry as well. He was reasonable with prices too. He is also a LIW vendor.

I used the julie bluestone trio for ceremony/cocktail hour. They played beautifully. A bit of jazz, a bit classical. They were $750 for 2 hours. :)

We used Jim Lowe, a pianist for our ceremony & CH. He was wonderful! $200 for both!
