This might be a really dumb question - but am I suppose to be booking a singer for my wedding? Is this a must or more of a preference?

Re: Ceremony Music
Are you getting married in a church? If so, they often provide the cantor but no you don't have to. You could get a talented friend to sing or no one at all.

Re: Ceremony Music
Yes - for a Catholic ceremony. My church provides recommendations - but I need to book the people myself.

Re: Ceremony Music
We are getting married outside, so we didn't have a cantor or any requirements from our minister and rabbi. We booked the singer and pianist from the band playing our reception, Soul Revival. We are having them play Ave Maria and some Beatles and Stevie Wonder ballads.

Re: Ceremony Music
I didn't have a singer at the ceremony but had keyboard and flute/sax. It was in a synogogue and the cantor sung for the ceremony but acapella-not as part of the 'entertainment'
IMO-I don't think it's necessary, but you could hire a singer if it makes you happy. If you booked a band, maybe one of their singers can sing for your ceremony. My band provided the musicians for the ceremony and cocktail hour and they were the same people who played the reception. I hope this helps.

Re: Ceremony Music
My ceremony is at a private home. My DJ is providing ceremony music.
