Ceremony Music

Help! Does anyone have any recommendations for ceremony musicians? We are looking for a string ensemble. There are many out there and they all seem to be the same price. Thanks!

Our ceremony & reception are at the Sans Souci. Your wedding is there too, right? We are thinking about getting a string quartet or something for the ceremony, but were wondering what it would cost. We met Janet King (harpist) at the bridal show at the Huntington Hilton. She is right in Glen Cove (so convenient!) and said her rate for the harp alone is $400 or ceremony or cocktail hour, $600 for both if they are in the same location. She seemed really nice, and we really liked her, but haven't had a chance to look at anyone else yet.

If you call the music department at Stonybrook they can give you the names of some of their musicians who play at weddings. I've been working with a great Flutist from there who is going to play our ceremony with a classical guitarist ($300 for both for 1 hr). I think she plays in string ensembles too. clpunch: You are right! I am getting married at the Sans Souci. Our ceremony is actually at St. Luke's right up the block from the reception. I have called SO many ceremony musicians that I can't even remember all their names (I have them jotted down on notepaper at home). I know I have called Peter Howard (he's in Roslyn Heights - also convenient), Encore Music, Dorian James, Stan Wiest and several others. I am waiting to hear back from some of them. I am looking for a string ensemble - So far, the quotes I have been getting for a trio are about $650 and for a quartet are about $850. I haven't really looked at harpists. I received a CD from Peter Howard and it was really beautiful. You can use the link on this site to get to his website and request a CD. I think he has harpists. I just can't decide since they are all the same price! Good luck!
