Ceremony Music

Hi, everyone!

I am thinking about hiring musicians for my wedding ceremony & CH. Do you have any recommendation for what types of music should I have? Where can I get more research information?

Re: Ceremony Music

I used Cappriccio Ensemble for my wedding ceremony and they were definitely one of my favorite parts of the wedding. As for what type of music to have, they really can do anything (for example, we had them play the instrumental portion of Coldplay's 'Clocks' for our recessional). The owner, Natalie Krieger, was very helpful and she was able to recommend the perfect quartet for us - we had a soprano singer (for Con Te Partiro and Ave Maria) along with a violinist, a pianist, and a cello. It was an eclectic mix, but it worked out beautifully

Oh yes, I need info on this as well.

And opinions...
one of my bridesmaids is an amzing singer and is singing 'Somewhere' from West Side Story at our ceremony. We are having the cermony at the RH so we dont have any church organ or anything. I love the idea of either a violinist or acoustic guitar (just read an article about a bride who had an acoustic guitar at the cermony and how beautiful it was). I have no musical ability/talent, so I dont know which would be better overall and for that song......opinions?

I am having a singer/acoustic guitar duo. I found her on craigslist. I haven't sent my deposit yet, but I'm going to next week. I haven't had the chance to see her perform in person, but I'm going with a gut instinct that she'll be great. Check out www.julianariccardi.com

Re: Ceremony Music

I would recommend Soul Revival. They are playing my ceremony, CH and reception. Their link is Soul Revival Link I really like piano, acoustic guitar, and upright bass (it's what we are having). I would also recommend looking at theknot.com for music suggestion, too. Good luck!

We used City Winds Trio (a flute, oboe and bassoon) and really liked them. (www.citywindstrio.com)

We also looked into Hire Juilliard Musicians, which puts you in touch with Juilliard graduates (not students) - the contact there, Emily, was very helpful. (www.Hire-Juilliard-Musicians.org).

I actually just got off the phone with Francesca from the VSQ and she is great. I am probably going to book them and their price is reasonable!!
