Not really sure what to do about the ceremony and cocktail music at the reception hall. On a budget but don't want to use the DJ for the ceremony especially. Any suggestions?

You could try a harpist or a string quartet

Thanks for the help, can anyone recommend any good harpist, trio''s, etc. I live out of the area and have no clue as to where to start!

I had the same problem. I hired Jim Lowe, he is a keyboardist on here who was highly recommended to me. I will FM the price I am paying.

Re: Ceremony music at reception hall?
Some string quartets:
Sterling Music Capriccio Ensemble Bravo Chamber Music Empyreal Strings
I''ve found Capriccio to be the most reasonably priced, and Empyreal to be the highest priced (still haven''t decided what to do). Keep in mind that many of these musicians will charge a fee to travel to LI, esp. if you are in Suffolk.

Re: Ceremony music at reception hall?
I'm getting married at the Swan Club and am planning to have the DJ provide the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.
I'll know for sure after we meet with the DJ on 11/25. We want to see videos of ceremony music, etc. just to be sure!

Re: Ceremony music at reception hall?
I used my DJ for the ceremony and then the player piano they had in the cocktail hour room, for the cocktail hour.

Re: Ceremony music at reception hall?
We used the Island String Quartet (Ira Kocivar 631-689-9879) for my ceremony. They did a fine job and even learn a hymn at the last minute for us. They were the most reasonably priced quartet I found.

Re: Ceremony music at reception hall?
I used Janet King, harpist. It was such a nice touch. $400 for the entire ceremony. I received MANY compliments. She's a vendor here also.
