Ceremony Music HELP!

Ceremony Music HELP!

Can you please post or FM me what you're paying for ceremony music. I want either a string quartet or trio for the ceremony only. One girl (from the church) quoted me $500, but they would do it for $450. I just called Julliard, and that's insane since they have to come 'all the way out' to LI (it's not Zimbabwe... geez!), it would be $350 per person! Yikes. So, that's out. I have a call into Hofstra to see if they do this. I already have to dish out for the organist and soloist, whether I use them or not, so I don't want to pay an arm or a leg, but I've always wanted violins, and I'm only getting married once! Since I'm already paying for the church people - and they happen to be quite good - I'm using them. So, they would be accompanying the trio or quartet. I want them for Pachelbel Canon in D, Bongiorno Principesa, Here Comes the Bride, and Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up. I know NOTHING about music, so please let me know what you think about the price, vendor suggestions, instrument suggestions (1 or 2 violins, cello, viola), etc. Thank you VERY much!

Sarah

I'm having the same problem.. Janet King is a harpist and shes 500.00 for the ceremony only. Royal Brass has the trumpets and they also have harpists and violins, etc. Give them a call.

great... thank you! Someone was actually just telling me how nice the trumpets are. If I mention the word 'trumpets' to my mom, she'll probably kill me! lol But I'll check them out for the violins. Thank you!

Re: Ceremony Music HELP!

i am paying about 850 for a string quartet to do my entire mass and the cocktail hour at my reception hall.
they are students from the manhattan school of music... my F-Bro-IL told me about them because he is very into the music scene (he's an AMAZING piano player) and he has a lot of connections, he is friends with them--this may be why I'm getting a good price.
I'm not sure how much it would be for anyone else but FBIL said most of the time the Manhattan School of Music or Potsdam students are cheaper because they are just as good as Julliard students but don't have the kind of money to go to Julliard...hence, they charge a little less too. Good luck, hope that helps a bit!!

i went to book my DJ and he said that he would do the ceremony and cocktail hour. He said they play cd's during the ceremony, which may be just as nice since the room is small. I think the harpist would be out of view anyway and now I'm saving alot of money.

just because first I said I wanted a violin. Now we may get a cellist. Oh... and maybe a viola. I also like the choir at the church. If I say I want trumpets, she's definitely going to think I'm gettied carried away here. lol.

That's a good idea! Thank you! I will check them out! I wish there was a place on LI that did this. I put a call into Hofstra, but no one has called me back yet.

I had Elegant String Ensemble at my wedding in July at North Ritz. Wonderful sound and great to work with. Our guests were impressed! The contact was Laura 516-238-8666. Hope this helps.
