We're having about 170 guests at our wedding. Do you think a strings duo of flute and cello is enough for the ceremony or do we need to add the violin to make it a trio??
I don't think people really notice the ceremony music sooo much so I'm trying to save a little money by going with the duo but the ensembles we spoke with all recommended a trio for our size wedding.

I think a duo will be fine. But do what ever it is you really want.

I have about 160 guests and will be married outside. It was suggested to me that I at least go with the trio so the sound can carry. But, I'm going with the quartet...I love the way it sounds.

i would go for a trio--but hey whatever works for ya!
i would want the music to carry--not just for the guests but for you--when you watch the video later. we had a trio--only because we had to budget and couldn't afford a quartet. but i would have loved a quartet !

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll go with a trio then. The price difference was about $200 which I guess in the grand scheme of this wedding is not huge. Thanks!

I used to play the violin for weddings and the duo will be fine as long as the venue is not HUGE...the sound will get lost if it is a really big room. Otherwise, the flute and cello will be fine bc of their sound...they both carry very well
