How many of you ladies are doing programs for the ceremony? I don't think I'm going to do them anymore. It's a nice detail but for me I wasn't sure if it was something people paid attention too, especially since the ceremony itself will only be about 20 min

I'm having programs but I'm doing a full mass. Honestly I shouldn't have paid as much as I did. You're right people probably don't pay attention, but I really wanted the silhouette bridal party line up lol.

I think if you're having a short ceremony, it's fine to skip the programs. We are having a full mass and my mom thinks it's a necessity to put the readings, songs, blah blah blah in there. So we will be DIY-ing them with programs from Michaels and just printing them at home. Nothing fancy.

For now, we've planned to make programs, but it depends on what we get back from the Reverend. I think funds will also be a deciding factor. I really want to make the ones that look like fans though. They are saying it's going to be a hot summer, it would be functional.

We are having a 30 minute ceremony and planning too have DIY programs. If things get too busy though this will probably be the first thing cut off the to do list lol

I doing a full mass, so I'm having programs… but my FSIL had a short 30 minute ceremony and did an informal 'program' on a large chalkboard. You saw it on your way into the ceremony location and it included the bridal party names and readers. Maybe you can do something like that?

I'm not. I didn't know programs were a thing until I came onto this site, I've never been at a wedding that had them.

I wasn't going to but FH really thought that it was important. I honestly think most people glance at them and put them back on the seat no really paying any attention to them at all. We did end up ordering them from Zazzle.com though.

I am not having programs, unless I decide last minute. We are having a 30 minute ceremony and I feel like its a waste of time and money to put all my hard work into something that is going to get thrown away. If I change my mind last minute, I am just going to print something up on the computer and put a nice ribbon around it, but this is last thing I am worrying about.

I don't plan on it. Every wedding I've gone too that had them, they were left on the seats or left at the tables after the wedding was over. It is though a nice touch if you're doing something during your ceremony that people won't understand. I was just a Hindu/Sikh wedding and it helped me understand what was happening.

Thanks for all the replies. It makes me feel better about my decision. I think if we were having a longer ceremony I may have considered it more

I didn't. We had a ceremony and definitely didn't feel the need. We had a huge turn out at the church, which I was expecting so I'm glad I didn't. I never would've made enough for the 100+ people that showed up. I honestly don't think people notice. However it is nice for a mass just so people know how much longer it will be, who everyone is, etc. They are pretty though!

I'm doing programs even though I'm having a 30 min catholic ceremony with no mass. I think its nice for guest to have something to follow along with. Plus, it tells them when to sit and stand. I am DYI them as I don't want to spend a ton of money on something that WILL be thrown away.

I'm doing my own programs with cardstock.. I'm getting married at the reception, but I wanted to at least honor my bridal party by letting everyone know who they were, and honoring loved ones who passed on in the programs

I agree. My ceremony is short also but I feel like on the program, I can shout out my bridal party and the people doing readings. I'm planning on buying one on etsy that I can just print myself. planning on getting them with matching photo booth layouts. It's like $8 each layout and I just need to buy cardstock to print them on.

I did and I am having a short ceremony. However, I did it because I am having a short ceremony and we are the first people in the family to not get married in the church. Added to the fact that it is an endless cocktail hour, I used it as a way to have a wedding FAQ.
