Ceremony Question RE Rings

What do you do with your engagement ring during the ceremony?
Do you put it on the other hand, take it off when he puts on the wedding band, or put the band infront of it?

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

Some people where on on their right hand and I heard that others give it to their mom's or someone else to hold until after the ceremony and then you put it back on after you receive your wedding band.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

My ering doesn't fit on my right hand. So I left it on my left hand during the ceremony, and when it came time to do the vows, I just put it on my left pinky. When David put my wedding band on, he just took my ering off my pinky and put it in front of my wedding band. No one really noticed at all.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

Mine doesn't fit on my right hand..it is too small.

Are any of you getting more than one wedding band? I am getting a diamond one for my left hand to match the enagement ring and a plain band for my right hand that matches FI. If you are getting both, are you bringing both? Don't you have to get both rings blessed? how are you working this?

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

antoinette - normally the wedding band goes first, then your e-ring. But you could put them however you're most comfortable.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

i was planning to just swich the wedding band from in front of the engagement ring to the back of the engagement ring- is there a rule of thumb that the wedding ring must go on a bare finger during the ceremony or something still confused

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

I'm going to wear my e-ring on my right hand and then switch after the ceremony so the two will be on my right.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

antoinette - no there is no rule that the wedding band has to go on a bare finger. It just makes it easier to slide the wedding band on. At least that is what other people have told me.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

I wore it on my left had and had my wedding band go in front of it. I wanted to wear it the way I always did when I was in church. Now I wear my band first and then my e-ring.

Re: Ceremony Question RE Rings

I had two rings and had them both blessed. The BM puts them all on the tray - the priest blesses them, and then the BM takes the other band off and leaves the two we use during the ceremony. It was seamless and not evident to anyone other than us.

At a recent wedding I went too, the priest blessed the engagement ring also, while the bride was wearing it.

I wore my engagement ring on my right hand during the ceremony - and its stayed on my right hand since then.
