ceremony readings

ceremony readings

We're having an interfaith ceremony and we, I mean 'I', need to find two readings. I'm not sure if I want to pick two religious readings, one from the old and one from the new testament, or if I would rather pick two non-religious readings. Please post your readings so I can have some inspiration. TIA

Re: ceremony readings

We are doing one religious, one poem. We each picked one. (FH is Catholic, I am not)

FH picked Corintheans
I picked 'The Art of a Good Marriage'

My officiant e-mailed me a list of potential readings. If you want me to, I can forward them to you.

That would be great! Whenever you have a chance just FM them, or even just some of them, to me.

I am going to try right now. I saved them onto my hard drive. I have never FM'ed a word attachment so hopefully this will work.

Do they have to be religious -- a friend used Khalil Jubran and the sentiment was beautiful.

I just FM'ed her that one (as part of the list)

Thiadora -- you are too cool! And your BM and FG dresses are amazing! Given how much I love them I can't help but wonder what your dress is like?

All things considered, we'll probably wind up going with non-religious readings, either poems or song lyrics that mean something to us.

for my interfaith ceremony we are doing 2 readings. i am picking corinthians because i have always loved it. not sure what fh will pick...

i would definitely check out kahlil gibhran's entire book, 'the prophet'. he has a passage on marriage that's beautiful, but the sentiment may not be one you want to focus on (it's like, 'we're together, but still separate people' - when i proposed it to my fh, he didn't like the point at all...). there are other essays - i'm thinking of the one on friendship and the one on love - that you might take a passage from.

also, the knot's vows and ceremony book has lots of suggestions.

We are using the Corinthians and Hand Ceremony.
