sorry this may be a silly question but bear with me...i've never been to a wedding before!!!
i'm confused about the petal toss/bubbles that i always see pictures of after the ceremony...after you're pronounced husband and wife and you walk out...how is everyone outside to do the petal toss? or is it only a select group of people that are waiting outside?
also, how does the processional work? do you and the groom walk out first and then the bridal party etc?

Re: Ceremony Recessional & Petal Toss/Bubbles
hi! We did the petal toss after our ceremony. DH and I walked out, followed by the bridal party and all of our guests. Those who were passing out the petals let everyone know to stick around for a few minutes (we weren't doing a receiving line). In the meantime DH and I went around the side of the church and back in to take some pictures. We then took some pics on the stair landing and my photographer prompted the petal toss. It was definitely a bit staged but it was perfect!
Funny you bring this up...it didn't occur to me until a few days before the wedding how the guests could possibly be outside before us because we weren't doing a receiving line. Here are some pics:

The bride & groom walk down the aisle, followed by the bridesmaid & then each row of people (so the first row o n the church is the first out). The bridal party including parents sually form a line in the vestibule (the receiving line) & all the guest walk by & say congratulations. The guests will wind up all waiting outside the church until you come out & they can throw the rice. Usually your photographer makes everyone wait until the right moment so the bridal party is all posed on the steps & he can get the shot of the rice falling. HTH's

Good question! I was wondering the same..except we are getting married outside at the RH and not having a receiving line or anything...so how would we do it then?

Re: Ceremony Recessional & Petal Toss/Bubbles
I know when my aunt and uncle got married at the RH, they just skipped that part. Everyone cheered and started partying! (Afterwards she said she was happy because she didn't have to pick pieces of rice or anything from out of her dress and hair!)

oooh ok it makes sense now! thanks girls!
my church doesnt allow petals to be tossed and encourages bubbles. i personally don't really like the bubbles idea but randomly one of my bridesmaids showed me a bubble wand from another wedding and said how much she enjoyed it so now im considering it....
what do you girls think....
bubbles/bubble wands = cheesy or sweet?

Jess and Nick during their petal toss
do you think it would be ok to have some people sittin on the ends of the aisle throw petals as you walk back down the aisle?
