Ceremony song suggestions and woes (Long)...
Hi everyone- It turns out that the son of a close family friend (who I've known since birth and is now 13) I just found out can play the guitar very well. When I heard this, I originally wanted him to play the processional/recessional music for our ceremony (instead of the organist that is provided through our chapel). When I brought the idea up to my FH, his initial reaction was 'this isn't an 8th grade talent show'. After getting over my initial hurt feelings (my mom even says he is a wonderful guitar player - and would have over a year to learn the songs!), I said well why don't we have him play a song to break up the ceremony a bit, like we've seen at many weddings (once we saw a cousin of the bride sing, she was only 15, and it was great). Does anyone have any song suggestions that might sound nice on an acoustic guitar to be played at the ceremony (but not sung). Also, do you think this is an unrealistic request? Thanks in advance for listening to me vent and for your always helpful suggestions...

I think it's a nice idea-
Hi Marnles, I think it's a very nice idea! By all means, bring your FH over to hear him play...he'll feel better once he realizes that the kid is good!! I think that 'Jesu, joy of a man's desiring' (JS Bach) is a beautiful acoustic guitar piece and would be perfect for a break in a wedding ceremony. I understand it not too difficult to learn (my old roommate just took up guitar, and she's learning it). Hope this helps!!! {}

WE are doing a similar thing---
My fi`s 14 year old nephew is going to play the violin while people are coming in to sit down for the ceremony. We actually put the misic picking decision up to him and his music instructor. We felt that whatever he will feel comfortable playing is better than us choosing a song that he may have a difficult time playing (but may not tell us). Good luck!Welcome New Vendors
