Ceremony start on a Friday

Ceremony start on a Friday

Originally FH and I booked our wedding with a 7:30 start on Friday night thinking this would give everyone enough time to get out of work and get to the venue. After thinking about it I'm starting to think its too late, dinner won't be served until 9:30 or so and the party will end at 1. There's another party going on at the venue that starts at 6:30 so our options for a start time are 6 and 7 so the start times are staggered. I like the idea of 6 because it will be just about sunset for the ceremony (I'm dead set on an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, it will have to be raining or snowing for me to bring it in) but I'm worried that it will be too early and make it tough for everyone to get to the ceremony after work. Anyone have any thoughts on what I should do? I'm kind of thinking people will make it happen, but I'm not sure.

Thanks ladies!

we put 6 on our invites. (Actually starts at 630)

Starting that early does make it hard for a lot of people to make it, but close family, and closes friends will likely be taking the day off or a half day at least and will make it to your ceremony no matter what. A lot of people skip the ceremony anyway, especially on a Friday, but I feel those who are most important will make it no matter what.

I would have to start at 6 since the other party starts at 6:30 so I can't do that. I think putting 5:30 as the start would be pushing it.

My ceremony is at 3:30 PM, but it's at a church and the cocktail hour starts at 7:00.

I don't think 1 is too late for it to end. Most weddings I've been to have gone until 1. Plus with a later start people might be able to get a power nap in after work.

If someone wants to attend they will make it happen no matter what the start ttime. Do what you and FH want and are comfortable with.

My ceremony is 7:30pm and the reception ends at 1am. I don't think 9:30 is too late for dinner since the cocktail hour starts early.

If you do it earlier, those who matter will make it!

I don't think 1am is too late to end, especially on a Friday when people have the whole weekend to relax.

My ceremony starts at 7:30 and my reception ends at 1am and originally I thought it was way too late, but its better to give people more time to get there. Plus, with it being on a Fri night, everyone will have the whole weekend to recover. =)

My wedding is 7:00 (hospitality) for a 7:30 ceremony, and ends at 1:00. I guarantee some of my older relatives will leave early, but they'll have the whole weekend to recover. My mom jokes that she's going to fall asleep in the bridal suite because she hasn't stayed up past midnight in about 15 years, but I know she'll be up and enjoying herself.

I thought about starting earlier, but on a Friday, some people will still be coming from work, and it gives out of town folks more time to get ready at the hotel (check in isn't until 3 for me).

I say, do what you and your FH want. I agree with the poster who wrote that folks will make the necessary arrangements to be there. (Honestly... who wouldn't want to skip out of work a little early on a Friday?)

I'm mostly concerned with my older relatives who will be staying with my parents, so also attending with them and won't be able to leave. I see pros and cons to both start times so I'm really torn.

I was in the same position too but my wedding is on a Thursday where I wanted to give everybody time to get to the place so my ceremony was at 7:30 and FH and I change it to 6 instead cuz we didn't want to end it too late but like everyone said if someone want to attend they will come on time
