Ceremony Start Time?

Ceremony Start Time?

What do you guys think about putting the ceremony time as a 1/2 hour earlier on your invitations?

My ceremony is supposed to start at 6 on a friday night in Wading River...should I say 5:30 on my invitations?

Thanks for your advice!

I wouldn't do that. Just in case some people actually show at your supposed start time and there is another wedding going on.

Hey, maybe a few minutes before is a good idea. Hrmmm....I never thought of it that way.

We did. But we are getting married on a Friday night and are the first wedding. We have people that if you put 5:00 they come at 6:00. So just to cover ourselves...

I am doing half hour earlier, my hall serves champagne and strawberries to the guests...

Thanks everyone. We're the only wedding happening on that friday night so we're leaning toward putting it a 1/2 hr. earlier...I hadn't thought about providing anything for guests who actually get there at 5:30...any suggestions?

i know as someone who is always on time, i would be annoyed if i got there and it didn't start for at least another half hour.

I am putting 1/2 hour earlier but we are having hospitality - coffee, tea, champagne & danish assorment...

I think if you put earlier you have to try to provide something. A lot of epople WILL try really hard to get there on time, rushing from work, and then to find out they have to wait. Peoplke don't really like waiting, but if you provide something, it might be ok. ALos make sure the people ar your place aren't like 'no, no the reception is at 6', cause then they'll feel decieved...if you make it look like this si the pre ceremony champagne or something and it's running late or something, it's ok..I don't know, I've stopped making sense..lol

kazee525...But you must know that you are a rarity and I am like you (always on time). The majority of people that I have known in my life are late to everything and it is annoying.

For me, I think that if I were walking down the aisle and people were just showing up, it would be a distraction. I have never been to a wedding though so I don't know how that would work.

I didn't do it for my ceremony but for my reception. I put one hour earlier.... that's alot, I know, but I have my reasons....

Re: Ceremony Start Time?

if the hall doesn't provide anything i would say 15 mi utes early is appropriate in case there is another wedding there

my hall has hospitality with fresh fruit kabobs, champagne with straberries and raspberries as guests arrive from 7-7:30
7:30 is our ceremony

Re: Ceremony Start Time?

it depends what time your really want to start..
do give 30 min time difference...
we are starting no matter what at 4 but invites say 3:30

from what i hear, this is normal

Re: Ceremony Start Time?

Our ceremony starts at 3 30. I know who will arrive by 3:00 early, and I know the people who will be there late.

To me it does not matter, the most important people who really care to you will be on time.

Me too.

We are having a harpist who is starting that time. But I thikn it gives guests time to get their seats. We are getting married at the reception hall so we are under a time restraint anyway. Cocktail hour promptly starts at 6:30.

I wouldn't do that. I've been to weddings that started 1/2 after the invitation said and everyone was wondering what was taking so long....
