For those girls getting married in church, can you shed some light at what is included if you just do a ceremony and not the whole mass? Obvioulsy it's the vows - but what else?? Do you do the unity candle?? I am kind of confused.
Also what is the difference is timing? Half hour vs. an hour?
TIA

Re: Ceremony vs. Mass
I'm not 100% sure with everything, But yea Mass is Hour and ceremony is I think just a half. We're doing the Unity candle and we're doing a ceremony. I know you don't receive communion when you do a ceremony...

i only had a ceremony but we still did the unity candle.
During the mass there is an extra reading or more like a prayer actually, plus you receive communion which is not done during the ceremony.

I honestly do not know.. but I do know that FIL's are making us do a mass and I am not happy about the extra time i have to spend standing there.

Thanks Espo!. So basically you do you vows, the priest probably says a prayer of some sort and you do the unity candle??

Re: Ceremony vs. Mass
We only had a ceremony, and it ran us close to an hour, so the time difference is really not much. The priest will read the Gospel and do a homily, you'll have 2 readings, as well as the Prayer of the Faithful, and a meditation song - this is where you'd light the unity candle if you choose to, and the exchanging of vows and rite of marriage.

Oh really? You get all that for the ceremony? I thought it was just vows and a pray and unity candle. I didnt know you do readings for the ceremony as well? So what's the difference - just communion and an extra reading?
