We will be doing an interfaith ceremony (i am christian, FI is jewish, but doesn't practice). We want to have a saturday afternoon wedding, but I've just come to find from FMIL that no rabbi will do this on a sat. Is this true that we won't be able to find anyone to do it? This is making me a little nervous. Thanks in advance!
Just an FYI, the reason we want to incorporate the rabbi and jewish traditions to the ceremony is out of respect for FI's family (parents, grandparents, etc.) Thanks again!
I think the reason that you won't find a rabbi on Saturday could be because of Shabbat and most of them are in temple??? But I could be wrong. If you don't have a rabbi and priest in mind call Interfaith Union (they are a vendor here) and ask them. We are using them and they are great (we are getting married on a Friday night). FILs are not always right. HTH!!
SaturDAY is Shabbat - the day of rest - and therefore, a rabbi probably won't marry you at that time/day. You'd need to do a Thursday night, Saturday night or Sunday anytime.
we are having our ceremony ay 11:30 on a sat and are using a wonderful rabbi (i am jewish, Fi is catholic). she is willing to incorporate both of our faith and beleifs and worked with us to come up with the perfect ceremony that is tailored to what we want. FH and I were so happy with her we aren't even having a priest, just her. FM me for details. She is located in NYC
I think that it will harder to find at rabbi for a Saturday day wedding, and you will pay more because of this (supply and demand issues).
My Rabbi will do it! FH is Catholic, I am Jewish- we were originally going to have our wedding on a Saturday afternoon and it was not a problem. FM me for details.
