Re: CFA
FH is a CFA, doesn't have a master's degree. He passed all 3 tests the first time, but he was studying like crazy for it all three years. He said the test was really hard, and he was physically exhausted when he got home afterwards.
He is still at the same job he was at before he received his charter, so it's hard to judge if his salary increases included something for the CFA, but they never said he was getting anything specifically for that.
I know that his '02 total compensation was more than this guy who joined his team this year who isn't a CFA but is a Harvard MBA.
Hope that helps.

Re: CFA
I just finished the 3rd level and received my charter this fall... So can't make comments on compensation yet, but if you go to www.aimr.org, you can check out the salary surveyes that they have for people who are and aren't CFA charterholders. Its a challending program, and one must be dedicated to it, but it has its benefits too. I believe you can register by march for this year's exam.

Re: CFA
My hubby is a CFP and got a promotion after he received that designation. But at my job, if you make CFA - you automatically get a 6% increase! Hope that helps!
