I'm going to a DJ showcase tonight and i'm trying to figure out before I go if Cocktail hour music is necessary. We are having the ceremony at the RH so we will need ceremony music, but is CH music needed?

Re: CH Music
I think I'm going to have it. When I book my DJ I am going to ask what they think, but I'd like something classic but not overpowering.

Re: CH Music
FH was insistent on having the steel drum player at CH, i think it will be a nice touch. Then again, its up to you.. otherwise i think the DJ plays background music during CH

Re: CH Music
For personal reasons I will not be having steel drums during my cocktail hour since I am a Steel pan player and many of my guests will be players as well and I cannot put them to work, lol. It agree it is a nice touch though. As a youngster I have played at many Ch's and Bar/Bat mitzvahs and people thoroughly enjoyed it. I will probably have the Dj or the RH play one of my play lists of my Ipod since I want to personalize my wedding as much as possible.

Re: CH Music
I would do it. From what I have seen with prices, you can usually negotiate to get one musician for the CH. One is usually $300. I think it sets the mood.

I think you should definitely have it, but only if it fits in your budget of course. It just adds that extra oomphh and I think you're guest will appreciate it.
