chair rail question

if i am putting a chair rail throughout my downstairs...connecting my kitchen dining room and living room, what do i do when iu get to an archway? do i put it around the archway, or stop and just continue on the other side of it? thanks! (its actually a squared off archway, not circular)

Re: chair rail question

Usually you end it, and start again on the other side. However, if you cut it on angles ~neatly~ so it mathces up perfectly, you can continue it through the archway. It work nicely considering you are connecting the entire floor instead of one room.

(I worked at Home Depot for four years, I can't wait to actually get in to my house to try this stuff out!!!) MSN on more info.

I would love to see them! We have the chair rail in my parent's house, but only in the dining room. I am sure it will look beautiful. Just make sure to make a clean angle.
