Change in honeymoon plans!!!!! We're going to......

GREECE!!! We decided to hold off on the Alaskan cruise for now since we can't get the one we want. We didn't want to settle and take the next best...it's our honeymoon and wanted THAT one!!! Plus, we have til we're old and retired to go to Alaska!

So we went with our other top choice. I know it's awful that we're married and haven't even planned our honeymoon. But we're working with a travel agent...and we'll probably spend about 12-14 nights there going to Santorini, Rhodes and Crete ...with a quick stop in Athens so we can fly out.

We wanted to visit some of the lesser visited islands, but the ferry schedule for this season won't be out until March, which might be too late for us to figure stuff out. So we'll just stick to the larger islands for this time around.

I can't WAIT!!!! We're still in the beginning planning stages...i hope it all works out.

Girls who have been there, or are from there...any suggestions as to where to go/what to see?

I'm a little biased because my family is from there... but you will LOVE Crete! I'll see what info I can get together for you on places to go and I'll send it to you or just post here.

Congrats Jen. I wanted to go to Greece so bad -- just not seasonal for us after the wedding.

We're going may 10 - may 24ish...depending on how long we decide to stay for. It's actually nice because it's low/middle season...so the prices are a little lower and it won't be as crowded. And the weather will be in the 70's (which is my FAVORITE temperature!)

i spent three weeks in Greece. Santorini is sooooo pretty!!!!!!! It was so relaxing. You need to watch the sunset in Oia....Also Santos ? Winery is ok ...Not the best wine but worth the pics....The food is soo good...I think that was the one vaca that I actually gained weight from....Oh yeah...They eat dinner late there..It is common for people to go out at like 10ish and then they go out after that. We had trouble getting used to that....

You will love it....

hahahaha i Know. those were our two top choices..weird huh? We thought May would be bad in greece (spring break time) so we chose alaska, but i heard it's actually pretty quiet in may, so we can walk around freely (we're not beach people)

yeah starting end of june i think is when it starts getting real packed in greece. Sounds like an amazing honeymoon

jen, from all the reading I am doing on alaska (and believe me, it's a ton), may and sept. are great times to go there. I think it would be about 55-60 degrees then (july is their hottest month and it hits 75 on average) and prices are super cheap. I don't know about the cruise prices though - thye may not go down then, but at port you would find some cheaper prices I think. Have fun in greece!!

I'm not sure yet...still working on that. We definitely want a caldera view...and I want to stay in one of those cave type places

Congrats on picking you HM destination. I'm not greek but my FH is and we go every summer. You will love Rhodes, Crete and Santorini.

Definitely get a hotel on the caldera in Santorini. FIL's actually recently stayed at a new hotel on the caldera and said it was amazing. I'll find out what it was called. You have to take a day trip to the Volcano, that's always a must.

Where in Crete are you going? If you go to Chania, you HAVE to go to the beach in Falasarna (about 25 minutes from Chania). None of the resorts will tell you about it because it's a beach for the locals and Greeks (no tourists there) but the water was absolutely incredible. My FH just had knee surgery when we went, so we couldn't do this, but you should definitely go to the Gorge in Crete. It's quite a hike but I heard the views are insane.

Rhodes is great. Take a drive around the entire island and you will see some incredible views. You will love the old town of Rhodes. It's a town built within walls and there is so much to see there.
