Change of plans....

Change of plans....

Due to the horrible events of September 11th, my FI and I decided to postpone our Mediterranean Cruise. I felt deep in my heart that by doing this we were just showing the monsters that did this to our country that they had disrupted out lives. But as I watch TV and read the newspaper and see the troops being deployed overseas, we made the decision to better be safe than sorry. Of course this is the last thing that I wanted to do is plan another honeymoon with less than one month until we get married.
Fortunately, one of my bridesmaids offered her condo in Florida. I called Disney on Sunday and had the most pleasant reservationist help me plan a 4 day/3 night package.

I am still very disappointed that we had to change our plans but I am trying to focus on the new trip and I'm sure that we will have a wonderful time.

My FI promised me that for our 1 year anniversary we will take the cruise that we had to cancel!

Thanks for listening.
Lisa

I think I would do the same thing in your position. I would just not feel comfortable out of the country right now.
At least you are able to go to Florida and relax! Better yet - you have a great one year anniversary trip to look forward to!

Sorry to hear that, Lisa. I know how much you were looking forward to your cruise. Honestly, if we were honeymooning out of the country instead of Canada (yes, I know it's not part f the US!) and New England, we'd have changed our plans, too.

You'll have a wonderful time in Florida and as Teri said, a fabulous first anniversary trip to look forward to!!

Talk to you soon!

I agree with your decision, even though it probably fine to go. Disney will fabulous and you will still have a wonderful honeymoon. Best wishes

Change of plans....

Lisa Rose, I`m sorry to hear about your change of plans, but I`m sure you will have an unforgettable time wherever you go! We decided to actually go on our honeymoon cruise and try to keep all the plans as it is--we will be leaving from Florida, so maybe I will see you at the airport!?:-)
Can you believe it a little over 3 weeks away!! I cannot wait!!

Good luck with the last minute things.

I am so sorry to hear about your honeymoon plans. It must be very difficult but I can say that Disney is a wonderful place. I can also suggest that you call them and ask about their cruise. It stays within US territory. I have heard it is wonderful. I think you can do a 3 day one too. I know it is not what you had planned but maybe it would be fun too!!! No matter what, I hope you have a great time.

Glad I'm not the only one...

I just got back from my wedding and we had to cancel our planned honeymoon too. We were supposed to go to the Canary Islands in Spain. Our family was really worried -- more so about us not being able to get back into the country if we are at war. I'm still so disappointed. We went to Newport, RI instead and had a GREAT time and we are planning to go to the Canary Islands for our anniversary next year as well.

My FI and I are both nervous and we changed our plans and our wedding is next july. We plan on going to the Hilton Head, SC. They have some great resorts and alot of things to do. It's about 4 hrs. away from Disney and 45 min. away from Savanah, GA. I would check it out if anyone else is planning on changing there honeymoon plans.

Janice-also a July 4th bride!

We were so close to booking Westbury Manor, but then decided on Woodbury Country Club.
Good luck with the plans!!!!!!!!

Change of plans.... We postponed our plans too

We also decided to postpone our Monaco/Italy honeymoon. I was too nervous about the possibility of getting stuck overseas especially since my husband is a kidney transplant recipient and must be on medication that might not be easy to obtain overseas.

We drove down to FL and went to Disney. Disney is always wonderful, and there were little to no lines. We stayed at the Hilton which is within the park so we were able to use the park transportation which was great after that long drive. We also went to see Cirque which was awesome.

I wish everyone well and have a great time what ever you plan to do.
