change registries?
I am registered at Fortunoff and bed bath and beyond, I just had my e-party and now have been told by two people that my BBB registry was difficult to buy from. I was told that many things on my registry were discontinued, yet I was never told that by BBB. I was also told that mostly everything I wanted was no longer there, and that none of the employees were helpful. I did get several gifts from there, so I thought everything was fine, Should I register somewhere else and get rid of BBB? What do you all think?

Re: change registries?
The key with Bed Bath and Beyond is NOT to register for seasonal items. So if you register in the summer for summer dishes come winter those items will not be available. They change their stock so often that it is best to register for items that will always be available and update your registry for seasonal items right before your shower or wedding.

Re: change registries?
I agree with ddunne23. I am registered at BBandB and Fortunoffs. I haven't had my shower yet, so I don't know how good they do, but all of my friends registered there and didn't have problems. I am also planning on registering at Pier 1, but will wait until the very last minute because of seasonal items. They seem to change their stuff every 3 months or so, so I want to wait until the end of August, being that I'm marrying in Dec. Good luck with it!

Re: change registries?
I registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (as well as Crate & Barrell). I agree, I think that it is best to stick to basics and forgo the seasonal items. I registered for a down comforter, towels, etc. Basically things that will most likely not discontinue so fast. The best thing to do is update your registry often. You can go online and update it as often as you wish. Good Luck!

Re: change registries?
I registered at both BB&B and fortunoffs...I really kept up online making sure everything was available.
both stores also told me not to register for bedding or bathroom stuff until about 1-2 months before the shower for that exact reason...
I've really had nothing but great experiences with both stores...

Re: change registries?
christy, I had the SAME EXACT problems as you. I just posted about it yesterday. Many of the items I registered for were not in stock anymore and could only be ordered off the internet which present many problems. I also found (after the fact) that many items I registered for never made it onto the registry. I did not re-register anywhere else though. I found everything out after my shower and I don't think anyone else will buy anything off my registry.

Re: change registries?
I agree, it's best to register for the seasonal items a few months before your shower/wedding. I have found it helpful to try to check on the registry online and in print, when I'm in the store, to see the availablity of items.I registered at Fortunoff's because I think they have such nice things and at BBB because there are as many store locations as there states we have family in!
I had only good experiences with both stores. I'd like to register for seasonal items (bed & bath) at Pottery Barn closer to my shower.

Re: change registries?
I just got back from BBB. The items that have been discontinued from my registry were dishes and glasses, and kitchen things by pfaltzgraff, nothing seasonal. I asked the woman why I never received notification about things being discontinued and she said I should have gotten letters. Well I never did! Basically they gave me a really hard time and tried to blow me off. I do not want anything more to do with them. But I have many things on my registry there. So I have to decide if I am going to remove it, or not. But I will say that I am calling there corporate office. Nothing was seasonal, and I should have been notified things were discontinued. Fortunoff has always done this for me. I prefer that registry so much more!

Re: change registries?
I registered at BB&B in Huntington and didn't have any problems. My comforter was discontinued and I received a letter from them telling me it was going to be discontinued. They even sent me a copy of my registry and cut off the column that said 'Quantity purchased' (it was before my shower'.
Which store did you register at?
