This is officially my first post on LIweddings. Initially I had planned my wedding for Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Fox Hollow in the Briar Fox room. I was so happy to get this date because it is the Sunday before Presidents day. Since most people have off that Monday, I felt like I got a Saturday for the Sunday price. However, after I started my guest list, I realized that I may have way too many people to fit in that room (it only hold 180 people). So I had to cancel the date because Fox Hollow didn't have the larger room available in Feb.
I sent a letter to the FH to cancel the date and to ask for my deposit money back. I don't know what the outcome will be. But I have heard that unless they re-book the date, they will not give a refund. Considering that this wedding is already costing too much.
If anyone is interested in the date......they gave me a great price!

Re: Changed Halls.....Hall Available
Is Fox Hollow in Suffolk county? If it is then by law they have to give you back your deposit minus $100 regardless of if they re-book it.

fox hollow is in nassau/woodbury. it's across from the syosset/woodbury park. did you stay at the hall for your wedding all together? cause we changed our date due to size and there was only a change of date penalty.

Fox Hollow is Nassau county and those rules do not apply in Nassau. I'm like 90% sure about that. You have time though and, like you said, that's a desirable date. Hopfully someone will take it and you'll get your money back. I wish you lots of luck!

Re: Changed Halls.....Hall Available
I did change the hall altogether because they did not have any dates in February available for the larger room. Only Sundays. I was not interested in a Sunday unless it were followed by holiday. We are now getting married at the Watermill on a Saturday in February.
I have to update my profile.
This site is so great. I have been reading everyones reviews and I have found them so helpful.
As of right now I have only booked my dj and the hall. Everything else is still up in the air. Oh yeah and I got my dress..... I'm real happy about that.
Anyway, thanks so much for the feedback. I hope that you are right about me getting my money back. I knew about the thing about Suffolk county. But I never heard it about Nassau and I don't think that the same law applies. I wish it did!
