I was HATING Macy's from the second I registered there, but I was always too lazy to change the registry, so today I finally did it, and I am SO happy I did! Much better selection! I just felt like all of the Macy's bridal departments were dirty and unorganized, plus I was really irked by the whole 'discontinuing' of products. Just thought I'd share.

Don't want to rain on your parade ... just don't have too too high expectations for Fortunoff. All my sheets & towels were discontinued and I was never notified.

Where is a Fortunoffs in LI? I do not know fo any out here in RI...I registerd at macys, Linens & thins and a few this at Target...I know those stores are easy for my guests to get to!
Altho, going to the MAcys in Hampton Bays is a JOKE!!
And I am also DISGUSTED with Macys too...I only have a few this left there...I had no choice...more than half of what I registered for was discontinued, including my dishes and my glassware...

I'm trying to decide between Macy's and Fortunoff's. Could you guys help me in giving me some pros and cons to each? I feel like Macy's would be easier for guests since there are locations throughout the country, but I don't want to have problems. Thanks!

WEll, I know that other stores will discontinue things, as well, but I like the online ordering of Fortunoff's better, plus they have better sales and offers than Macy's. I did only my china, everyday dishes, stuff like that at Fortunoff's. Everything else I will be going to Bed, Bath, Beyond. I didn't go to Fortunoff's, I just transfered it all online. I've been there enough to know I like it better than Macy's, but when we first registered, we were in MA, and the only thing near us was a Macy's, so that's what we went with.

I am registered there and THEY ARE GREAT!!! they have the lowest prices and are so easy to work with ALSO they have the largest selection by far!!!!'they have everything
when you register at Fortunoff.... it tells you if it is a seasonal item or if there is a chance of it being discontinued... but no store knows for sure what will be discontinued on most items
bath and bedding anywhere can be discontinued... they are seasonal items

I registered with Fortunoff and Macy's......I had a good experience with both....of course, there are still a lot of items on my Fortunoff registry...

We are also registered at Fortunoff's and are pretty happy with it. The only thing I don't like is their online registry doesn't show any pictures, where as Macy's does. I love Fortunoff's as a store, but can see how it can be a pain in the butt for people buying gifts because there is only one LI location. I sound like I am talking myself out of my registry there... But in all seriousness, Fortunoff's has nice stuff and a huge selection.

Well, I also know that I will look at a registry and not always buy it from that store. I know, I know, bad me for screwing up the registry, but I still do it. I figure this is what most people do, no?

Well the good side is that Fortunoff usually has the lowest prices and best deals..... but i know what you mean.. usually you should call them and let them know you bought the item so teh person does not end up with doubles of things yes and many people do this if it is more convenient for them...perfectly normal

I have not received a letter from Macy's but when I went in the store to check on my registry they didn't have the right color towels and blah blah

WOW danielle and I have a totally different outlook than you do on MAcy's and Fortunoffs.
We were very dissappointed with Fortunoffs. I cannot tell you how many of our items that we registered for were discontinued and we were never notified, including our comforter set, and sheets. toaster oven, microwave, toaster...and some other housewares things.
We registered for alot more stuff at Macys after we found out that alot of our stuff was discontinued at Fortunoffs.
We even did what the woman at the bridal registry desk said at Fortunoffs and we didnt register for bed and bath stuff until a few months before the wedding.

oh boy now i'm thinking neither macys or fortunoffs..how about crate and barrell anyone have any complaints about them? or pier one? i don't think we're doing china so we could really go anywhere.. any advice?
