The initial lesson is usually $99. There are a number of flight schools on LI out of Republic.

I'm at work & don't have the time to do it now, but do a search for long island flight schools or flying lessons.

I did come across the below for $77.

There is also a glider ride for about 120. from WestHampton. My parents & brother did it & its about 30-45 minutes. That was great too. They tow you up & then when you get high enough the plane lets you go & the glider floats for about 30-45 minutes depending on how many times you 'dive bomb' (on purpose).

I know someone specifically mentioned flying around NYC --- that would mean a lot to FH and I, the city has had a lot to do w/ our relationship.

I want to find that one!

Call Mid Island Air Service at MacArthur airport (I worked there for years). They'll send you and DH up with an instructor and they'll let you fly too!

For my one year dating anniversary, my DH (then FH) bought me on a plane ride that was supposed to go over the city. I am terrified of flying. The weather out was horrible, very windy and the skies were dark gray. Well I figured I would suck it up ( I thought maybe he was going to propose to me up there!) Well the plane was so small. I was crunched up in the back. The plane took off and within five minutes, I told the pilot to come right back down! Anyway, I will find out from my DH where the place was. I remember it being in Jersey. Dinner was included also!

holy cr@p! Just looked at some pricing for helicopter tours - 15-17 minutes is about $200pp++!!

eta: no wonder it was a reward on the Apprentice - it's mucho $$$
