So...I'm changing my church to the one where I just had my grandmothers service...Within the past year and a half both of my grandparents had their services at Holy Family in Hicksville and my parents were married there 30 years ago this weekend...although it doesn't have a long isle for me to walk down it's the meaning in that church that I have to be married there. So I already am booked somewhere else...called the church today and am waiting to hear back from the priest.
Also I feel like I'm so behind the only thing that I have booked is the RH and Church...but you ladies have your photographers, florists, etc booked.......Should I start doing this now...is 09 vendors filling up fast? I'm starting to get nervous

I think that there are a lot of 09ers who are WAY ahead... I only have my RH and photog done and that is it...and i am not doing anything else until at least next year...I am thinking that in June I will do the DJ and I am so not getting BM dresses or my dress until I am just under a year until my wedding. What if styles change or your weight changes or you just see something better... You are fine. Don't stress...

It depends on you and if you know what you want... A couple of the vendors I originally had in mind were already booked (I have a holiday weekend) so i decided to book the vendors that were still available that i knew i wanted.... I'm waiting on my dress and BM dress but, some people already know exactly what they want..... If you know who you want then book it.. My two top photographers were already booked for my date 3 months ago and a couple of RH didnt have the date available and I heard that my DJ is always booked quick Memorial day weekend.... so I booked what I know i want already, and now I'm waiting on the rest. Congrats on the church....

I was figuring next year (about a year before) I would start doing all of this stuff...I relaly just wanted to enjoy being engaged and save the money...but I don't want to lose out on vendors either....ahhhh!
Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one that far ahead

you feel behind...?? i havent booked anything lol i just know what florists im using because my aunt is very good friends with the owner and said he will do my wedding lol......so think about me when you dont have anything booked =) i need to go and look at RHs maybe sometime next week.

Yea a lot of 09ers are way ahead, but better to be safe then sorry, and it gets the stuff out of the way. i know a girl who got engaged like 2 weeks before me, wants a summer/fall 08 wedding and has NOTHING booked, no dress, no RH, no church, nothing at all.....and she really expects to book everything and find vendors in a little under a year....she told me 6 months from now is when shes gonna start booking and looking, she hasnt visited anywhere either............i looked at her like shes crazy i mean its possible...but come on now, why rush everything in like 6 months? i told her she should make it for 09.......but shes set on 08 because shes dying to get married so thats on her .

I haven't done anything yet either! I've only been engaged for about 3 weeks, so I don't feel behind. I'm not really too worried about losing out on vendors that are already all booked up. I don't have my heart set on any specific vendors yet so I won't be disappointed if they're gone.

I am with you!!! I picked my top two halls, but other than that nothing is done. I am getting so nervous too. I have been having issues with my parents so that is causing the delay, but hopefully by the end of the month everything will be set (when it comes to the RH at least!)

im getting married in 2008 and all we have booked is our RH, photographer and DJ....you have a lot of time......i feel like if you book everything to soon then you'll be bored and have nothing left to do! only book the must haves - like if their is a photographer you really want or a florist or a DJ that you have to have......good luck and happy planning!

The biggest benefit to booking early one vendor told us is you will lock in a cheaper price - we're trying to book early just so we can take our time with everything and not be rushed

Dont worry about being behind..... do things when your ready... I had my church booked but now they told me I have to wait till December '07 and call them back... grrr so I really dont have a church right now

I have been pretty quiet about all the wedding planning... so FH asks me to other day... 'you havent talked about wedding stuff in a long time... are we booking anything else?!?' Good to know that hes thinkin about it!!!!

The only things I have booked so far are the RH and the DJ.... the photographer I wanted to use is booked every sunday from now until 2010, and since thats the only vendor I had my heart set on, I can wait to go see the other photographers because none of them really do anything for me like that one did.
i'm not doing anything else till this semester ends (the middle of december) because its hard to plan a wedding, and full time student teach, and take two classes, and work... so yeah... lol.
i dont think youre behind at all...

I have booked the church, RH, and we hired a full service planner to work with us from now until the wedding... But that it so far. We have a flower meeting in a few weeks down her in Maryland, only because I want to see if getting flowers in Maryland and having them shipped to New York would be cheaper. But I doubt if I book. I feel like im behind sometimes too, but you have to remember when you book these things you have to have the deposit money ready, right then and there, Some of that is like 500.00 a pop. I know I can only book when I have down payment money ready.
