Changing last name?

I need some help - trying to get started on changing my last name.

Aren't we suppose to receive a copy of our marriage license in the mail? This is what I need to officially change my name, right? If so, how long does it usually take to arrive.
(We got our license in NYC.)

Yes -I reveiced it in the mail anyway - It cam after our honeymoon because they had 2 questions and could not complete it until we called them when we got back. I got it within 2 days of calling them back though. May be slower because it is the city and I am sure there is higher volume.

Yes you need it to do all of your changes. If you need to get a passport changed, get a second original copy as you need to send one with th epassport to get changed. They will mail it back to you. But in the meantime, if you have no other copy, you are at a standstill to get all of the other stuff done.
