Changing last name?

Changing last name?

I need some help - trying to get started on changing my last name.

Aren't we suppose to receive a copy of our marriage license in the mail? This is what I need to officially change my name, right? If so, how long does it usually take to arrive.
(We got our license in NYC.)

we got ours on friday. 6 days after the wedding Nassau county)
I am going to SS first, then DMV.

I was told you should get it in about 10 days after the wedding. You need to first go to the ss office get your ss card changed then you need to go to the DMV...but on your credit cards and stuff you can just change over...
