Changing reception location?

Changing reception location?

Hi, ladies,

Ok, I know you'll probably think I'm crazy but keep thinking about changing our RH. As of now, it's at the KOC in Oceanside. And although it's a very nice place and I'm sure everything will be fine there, I'm really doubting the way it's all going to run with ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in the same room. Just not seeing it!! And there's really no grounds to take pix. And I guess I just really want something closer to our homes. My ex's parents live a few blocks away from the KOC and I just have this horrible vision of him showing up and ruining our day. Just a gut feeling.

Was thinking of checking Manor East, Stewart Manor and The Sterling just to see what price they can give me for a Sat. afternoon. Pretty sure I can get our money back from KOC as long as they rebook the date.

I know FH will think I'm nuts, but I'm really feeling ill at ease about it; I'm so comfortable with all of my vendors and feeling this way about RH is driving me crazy. I just thought it would be worth a try to see the other places. I think I'd have a lot more peace of mind knowing the ceremony will be in a separate room, ex can't walk over (he doesn't drive), etc.

Thanks for listening, girls.

Change your reception location if it will make you feel better.
I've been to events at that KOC, but I see your point in how to configure everything for ceremony, CH and reception. How would they do that ? Will the bar be open to members (non-invited guests)during your event ?
They shold be able to refund your deposit if they re-book, but keep on them !

We had to cancel a party there because FMIL got sick and never got the deposit back.

Wish you luck !

I think you should definitely take your feelings and thoughts into consideration. If you're not 100% with your RH do some research on other places.

Definitely think about it and research your options. You don't want to go ahead and plan something feeling this way.

Re: Changing reception location?

you can get a GREAT deal on a reception hall if you book now. We decided a month ago to get married this september and we're getting our reception for almost HALF of what they would normally charge.

Put it this way-- if a RH doesnt have a date booked for this october, it is highly unlikely they wont get something booked so they are more than wiling to accomodate you and give you a big discount.

i say, go for it

Well, girls, wish me luck. Just called Manor East and they have my date & time available. I'm going there after work to take a look and see what they can do for me. Hoping they can match or beat the price of KOC so it's worth it (to everyone else) to change location. May give The Sterling a call to see if I can go there afterwards since not too far away.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, The Riviera and Stewart Manor are both booked on our date. And since all other vendors are booked, I don't think we should change date. So going to check out Manor East after work and The Sterling has rooms available for cocktail hour and reception, but their chapel is booked right now. He's going to see what he can do and get back to me.

Anyone been to or using either place for wedding-if so, how was the food and service?

Thanks so much.
