How many of you have put a deposit down on a hall, had second thoughts about it, and started looking again??
Did anyone cancel a contract? How much $$ did you lose, if any???

Re: How many of you...
Nope. Once I signed a contract, put the deposit on my dress, whatever, I stopped looking at anything else. I felt all of the planning was stressful enough, why put myself through all that second guessing? I did worry after seeing certain posts and did contact people for more info, but more to prepare myself and ask questions to avoid any problems. I didn't want to lose any money I had already shelled out.

FH and I made the decision together that BCE was the place for us, and that was it. We also stopped looking at halls. I'm glad we only have 5 1/2 months to plan our wedding cause there are so many choices, it just makes you wanna

We switched halls because we felt our original hall was in breach of contract. We sent the hall a letter stating the facts and why we felt they were in breach of contract and demanding a refund of our deposit in full. Within 4 days we had a check for our full deposit and were not held liable for any fees.
But, usually if you break contract and the hall is not in breach, you are going to lose your deposit and if they cannot rebook your date, you are responsible for a percentage of what your wedding would have costs plus any additional fees incurred by the hall. IT's pretty messy actually.
Look at your contract, if should list specific details as to what you are responsible for if you break contract.

Re: Changing the hall?!?!?
We switched halls twice...lost some money but not a lot (def under $1K)...it worked out for hte best because having the wedding at either place would not have made us happy.
