Changing the Theme....(Long)

So I really was so into doing a fall theme....But i had so many ideas and I just didn't know where to start.....I have now thought of an NYC theme and Since we are getting married 3 days after 9/11..I thought of some ideas and just wondering if I can have some input.....

Favors - Donation to Tuesdays Child
With that we will place a post card of the WTC or NYC Skyline for each place setting (On the back personally write a thank you and why we are donating to them)
Table Numbers - I wanted to use pictures on NYC then and Now ( I can hopefully buy a book or something)
Place Cards (I have no idea)
Signature drink - (No Idea)

Don't know what else to think of....Please feed me your ideas and opinions...

one of my cousins did that and gave out ' I Love NY ' tshirts out as the favors which i thought was a great idea ....each table was a different place in NY with the picture of it also ...i think that is a great theme...her colors were black, white and red

i'll try to think of some more things that she had

signature drinks has got to be a Manhattan....dont know why but the moment I read NYC theme that is the first thing I thought of....

at our wedding we did goody bags that were NY themed...we bought I Luv NY gift bags and put in them, Post Cards, I made a little brochure of our fav places and resturants, key chains, snacks, etc. I don't remember everything that was in them but our guests loved them.

china town...I don't remember the exact store we bought them from we stopped in a couple of them...you know the ones that sell fake bags and stuff. We went to couple and at one place we were able to talk the guy down

ETA: we also picked up little trinkets while we were down there like snow globes of NYC, mini statue of liberties...they were so inexpensive yet nice

Perfect!!!!

Thanks!

welcome....

Oh and I just thought of one more thing

instead of doing table numbers you could name each table a place in the city i.e. one table could be central park, another rockerfeller cntr...and maybe the postcard you put at each table could be of whatever the table is named i.e. the central park table could have central park postcards on it

That's what I was thinking... you can do a NYC themed wedding without it focusing completely on 9/11. Depending on how involved/hurt your family and friends are by 9/11 (i have two brothers in law enforcement, a best man who was really hurt by it, a cousin who lost a firefighter friend, etc), it may work better to focus on so many of the things NYC has to celebrate. Reflecting on 9/11 is good and healthy, but for me personally, if it became too much a part of the ceremony, I'd be afraid of what it would do the people there. Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, Broadway, Columbus Circle, The Apollo Theater, Yankee Stadium, Little Italy, the Brooklyn Bridge, the World's Fair Globe, and The Skyline (Maybe with the towers of light), would totally work as tables.

Yes understood completely....my FH is NYPD as well..(Maybe i wasn't to clear- I don't want everything to be about WTC just the donation postcard....Maybe for guest to pick up on there way out then)....So yes i do understand that.....Thanks for your ideas....

Re: Changing the Theme....(Long)

I had an NYC theme! Some of our ideas:

-We had an image of the skyline on our invitations
-Matching image of skyline on DIY's - OOT Guest bag labels, Programs, Menus, Favor Tags
-Leased a 1968 Checker cab instead of a limo
-Included The Official NYC Visitors Guide in OOT Guest bags
-Last Dance : New York State of Mind by Billy Joel

We also thought about giving out Black and White cookies, naming the tables after areas in the city, and I have seen mini-taxis you can purchase as placecard holders, but chose not to. I love your donation idea!! We donated to the American Heart Association in memory of my Grandpa. Check out my review for some pics (link in bio).
