Changing Your Last Name

For those of you who took your husbands last name, do you know who you have to call / contact to officially change your name on you SS card, credit cards, license, passport ect??? I am unsure of who to go about doing this and who to contact.

I ordered a kit off line with the paperwork for each thing we'd have to change.
Social Security is first..if you live in Nassau COunty the closest one is 84 North Main St, Freeport.
You'll need your marriage license with you, passport, drivers license & social security card.
Im not sure if they charge you to change it though...

Once you have that, you can go to DMV, the bank etc...

i just did this yesterday and although i live in AZ, i'm sure the social security procedures are the same. i only needed my marriage license, driver's license and my old social security card. then, as long as i have my marriage license and the 'receipt' they give you at the social security office saying you've changed your name, you can go and get your name changed everywhere else. you shouldn't get charged anything at the social security office. from what i've heard, credit card companies are the hardest to deal with, so much so that one of my friends has been married since last may and still hasn't changed her name on her credit cards.
