Changing Your Last Name

Changing Your Last Name

FH and I have discussed the fact that I won't be changing my last name. He is fine with this. Officially, I'll retain my maiden name, although I wouldn't mind people calling me Mrs. Married Name. I figure if/when we have children maybe I'll change my last name then. What are you/have you done? Just curious since I'm seeing more and more women not making the change. Thanks!

I am going to hyphenate mine...I wouldn't have it no other way and he is completly fine with it.

I will be changing mine!! I like this tradition, plus it will be MUCH easier to have the same last name once we have children.

It's a personal decision and there's no one that can tell you what is best for you. I don't want the hypenated name because it's too long. And I don't want different names because I want to feel like one unit and have the same name as my kids. I changed my last name about 3 months after we married (I was being lazy).

Also, I changed mine because:

1) My maiden last name starts with A and his starts with H. I no longer want to be the first one called!

2) His last name is easier to pronounce and spell.

3) I want to be known as Mr. and Mrs. H

I changed my name. For me it wasn't even a question. I knew since I was a teenager that if I were to ever get married that I would change my name bc I hated my Maiden name.

And it wasn't even that much of a hassle. I've been married for a little over a month now and I have all of my legal documents in order. Everything was really easy.

Professionally, I am keeping my name. Personally, I will be known as Mrs. ___________.

I don't like the way the two names sound hyphenated. At work, I will continue to be Gina ________. However, all personal documents will be Mrs. _____________. I will not be changing everything at once though. My passport won't be changed until it expires, same thing with my driver's license, notary license, etc.

i'm using the hyphen :o) i was adopted and my last name was change when i was little and to me, it's part of who i am, so i'd miss it. plus when we have kids, they'll do the hyphen as well. plus our names work with a hyphen, so i'm happy. my FH totally supports me in it.

I am going to change my name legally, but not professionally. FH and I work in the same school, and I don't want to me Mr. and Mrs Mc**** for the kids!
