So I have a bridal shower next month. it's for my cousin's fiancee and I don't know her very well at al. They already have a home so there is not much on the registry so I was trying to think outside the box. Do you think a Channa plaque would be a good gift? I would basically go with colors similar to her wedding colors.
The pros are I think it's really cute and personal
The cons are- is it bad luck to give this to someoen before the wedding since it has the new last name and wedding date on it?
What if she already knows about/has ordered a channa plaque? Would you rather pick your own colors, etc? I don't know how widespread the channa plaques are, but I haven't seen the bride on LIW, so at least she hasn't seen them here.
What do you think?

I love the idea..
But I have to say I would rather pick my own colors/fonts because it's going to be hanging in my home.
Idk do they own a home where you have an idea of colors?

I don't have an idea of the colors, but I know the BM dress color, and I kind of know how my cousin likes things..like kind of eelgant and low key. The BM dresses are lilac, so I was thinking of asking Channa to make some proofs that involve neutral tones including a neutral lilac. Or maybe just sticking with beige, black and white. I don't see them as bright color people.
I know it's a little sad that it's my 1st cousin and I don't know him that well, and certainly don't know his FW that well...

In that case I'd do it.. Maybe put the last name in Black with soft colors with it like the lilac.
Or maybe just make it Black with shades of white and cream because that will go with most things.

Here are some of the only decorative things they registered for so far...so i think the black/cream/gold thing will work

I think it is a great idea. If you are concerned about luck why don't you just use their first names and one of the quotes like All because 2 people fell in love or something like that.
Also I would make sure you would get delivery in 1 month. I e-mailed Channa last sunday that I wanted my proof and to please send me the payment info and I have not heard back from her yet. So 1 month might be cutting it close. But maybe other brides who have already gotten theirs can give you a better estimate on shipment times.

Re: Channa Plaque as shower gift?
OOh I am getting inspired. Now I want to get one for my cousin's christening which says 'I ama child of god' but the christening is in 2 weeks, probably not enough turnaround time.
I might as well order mine while I'm at it!

I think its awesome. I was going to buy one for my cousin who was getting married in November of 2009 but thank goodness I waited b/c she ended up postponing the wedding to 2010 so now I'm going to get one with their names...but no date LOL
