Chapel @ CW Post

Has anyone gotten married there or been to a wedding there? My FH and I are going there this week (hopefully) to look around. A friend at work had his wedding pics taken there. It's an interfaith chapel so it's perfect for us (He's Jewish and I am Cathloic, we are having a rabbi and Decon)

TIA!!

Re: Chapel @ CW Post

I graduated from Post and although I am a huge fan of the school I did not like the 'look and feel ' of the chapel for our wedding.

But..in all fairness I must say we are both Catholic so we wanted to long aisle, the pews etc etc etc....
The chapel area itself is rather small and there are orange plastic chairs instead of pews...

I can say that your pictures will be beautiful though! The grounds are soo nice.

Good Luck :)

We looked at it as a possible place for our ceremony but decided against it. It's an okay looking place I wasn't crazy about it. The one plus was that it was an interfaith chapel.

Re: Chapel @ CW Post or interfaith Chapel

Thank you Girls. The picture thing is a big thing for me. This way, I can have the pictures done right on the grounds and the all the falilies will be there. Our BIGGEST thing about our wedding is that FH and I want to be at our cocktail hour.

Do you girls know of any other interfaith chapels?

I think the word chapel itself implies Christianity... I don't think there is anything such thign as an interfaith chapel, although you will find some that will perform interfaith weddings.

Depending on how important it is to you, I see that you are Catholic and your FH is Jewish. you can still get married in the Catholic Church. there is a dispensation that is required and you have to attend Pre-Cana and complete some paperwork, but that is a possiblity for you. (Only major thing is that your FH woudl have to verbally and sign paperwork agreeing that any children will be raised Catholic and find a rabbi that is willing to go into a Catholic church....there are a few out there.)

If you don't want to do that, many interfaith brides get married at their halls, somewhere like Post (which is beautiful) or some of the LI parks allow weddings to take place on their grounds.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Re: Interfaith Chapel @ CW Post

Just wondering if anyone will be married at an interfaith or neutral location other than their reception hall.

This weekend, I went to the CW Post interfaith chapel but i'm sad to say this isn't the place for me.
It is a very pretty location for photos being that it is on a small hill. But, the stairs leading into the building and the winding staircase would be a challenge for some of our older guests.

I am Catholic & FH is Jewish-
I was actually thinking of the east williston community church but I seem to remeber (in passing in my car) that the stained glass windows have Catholic images. Am I wrong?
TIA

Dee,
I don't know but if you find out, please FM me. FH and I are having a hard time finding a place to have the ceremony. The Historic Chapel is perfect, but SO small.

If any of the girls have any advice, please help

Thank you
Lisa
