How many of you are doing this? If you are, how are you doing it? Are you just giving a donation, and then putting cards at each place saying so? Are you giving something else as well (candy,etc)? Are you giving something related to the charity (ribbon pins, livestrong bracelets,etc)?
Also, what charity are you giving to?
I'd like to do this, and I'm thinking of doing it by buying livestrong-style bracelets so that I have something physical to give to symbolize the donation. I haven't really decided yet though.

We're doing this- I printed out cards explaining the charity. We sent to CHildren's Health Fund Operation Assist - it goes to help in the Hurricane Katrina areas.

i ordered a two pack of chocolate truffles for each guest and made a tag for each saying a donation was made in honor of so and so!!

we did this for our wedding last june... we donated to lance armstrong fund... we gave each guest a livestrong bracelet and a tin with jordan almonds all wrapped in tulle, with a tag that said ' to honor our loved ones affected by cancer, a donation has been made to the lance armstrong cancer fund'/ just have to add i can't tell you how many compliments we got on it!!! people LOVED it! and a lot of our guests are still wearing the bracelets almost 10 months later... you can't say that about a lot of other favors! definitly go for it!

people really wore the bracelets? I was thinking about doing bracelets, but I'm worried that people will just toss them or not care (or just not get it).
Not that it really matters, what matters is the money going to charity, but if I do bracelets it would be nice to have people actually keep them and wear them.

i answered u on 07, but u dont have to give a favor. the donation is plenty. we're going to put a saying in a frame on each table telling our guests where we donated and that it's in lieu of an actual favor

We donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, an amazing charity. We put a scroll explaining our donation at each place setting with 3 Jordan almonds in tulle. Below is what the scroll said.
