Have any of you suffered from these during pregnancy? Since I got pregnant, I often wake up with calf cramps which go away pretty quickly with flexing my calf. Well, not this morning. This thing tightened up so quickly and tightly that I could feel the knot in my calf. I was screaming and jumping out of the bed for about 5 minutes. Now I am limping like I have a sprained calf. Wish I could take some Advil.

Re: Charlie Horse
they are the worst. my mom's advice: stand up and push your foot flat on the ground straight up and down though - don't bother with trying to stretch it. just push it flat and spread out your toes - get it as flat as you can. It usually relieves it pretty fast.
NOT AS FAST AS ADVIL but you can blame your peanut for that!

Re: Charlie Horse
As you could have guessed I have had a number of these and OUCH!!!!! They wake me in the middle of the night..and the worst is that I can feel it coming on and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Scott thought I was in labor a few times because I almost jumped out of my skin in pain and he wasn't sure what the heck was hurting me.
If I eat a bannana almost everyday I find that they are reduced A LOT. I also get a 1/2 hour massage almost weekly and that seems to help work out any 'left over' kinks from them.
I was also told that it could mean you need more calcium in your diet.

Re: Charlie Horse
I had those, they were the worst, I would either hold my calf really tight and rub it a little or try to walk on it if I could get my big belly up quick enough.

Re: Charlie Horse
I think these cramps are described in the What to Expect book. I remember reading about needing more calcium or less magnesium (maybe it was the other way around). I did get a few during the night which is when 'whatever causes the pain' settles in the calf. Flex your foot to relieve the pain. I did have a few that caused lingering soreness the next day. I limped around for a few hours and then felt better. Sorry you are going through these cramps.

Re: Charlie Horse
I used to get them in the morning when I was just waking up. I would feel it creeping up on my leg. I would think to myself 'don't move.' Then I would move my leg and the pain would set in and I would let out a yell.
