charlotte, NC

hello people. is anyone familiar with the area of charlotte, NC? i start grad school at unc charlotte in aug so we are moving right after the wedding. we are going down next week to find an apartment, only everything looks great online in the pictures, but then i read apartments.com rewviews and they scare the crap outta me! 2 questions....

can anyone recommend specific apartment complexes in charlotte? (i know some girls here live there).

and do you have any tips about what to do/look for in an apartment? (we've only lived in illegal basement apartments here on LI, but never in a complex).

thanks, lacey

first off, i LOVE complexes...there is usually a pool, things get fixed/repaired right away and you have a formal way to complain about neighbors (and it happens from time to time no matter where).

i am not totally familiar with charlotte ( i grew up in winston-salem...90 minutes east), but we have friends there.....one has a super nice condo and one an apt...i don't know how nice or not his apt is, but typically, you can tell by the staff and neighborhood when you tour the 'complexes' just how nice they are.

good luck....ps, jealous that you are moving somewhere affordable.

I lived near Raleigh so I am not sure about Charlotte.

Complexes are nice. Since they pop like mushrooms there, you can pick a new complex.

My advise is to take a ride in later evening to check the neighborhood...You will see who hangs around.

thanks girls! thats a good idea about driving around at night to see whos there. we've read some scary reviews about gangs and 'ghetto' people hanging around the complexes at night. i have a list of like 20 apartments to check out lol. ~lacey
