Chateau Briand- Bad Experience

I am going to start this by saying the reason for this post is for knowledge only.... I have recently attended and help plan a wedding at the Chateau Briand in Westbury. There are some things I feel that BTB and Brides that are booked there should ask.

CH room the decor was really nice and elegant. But the stations were set up in the middle of tables as well as different food on different sides of the room.. Top it off there was not enough food and since the lines are long when we finally got to eat it some food was cold. Thank god the bar was not busy and we received our drinks real fast.

Reception.... Nothing good so say sorry... except again the decor..... Unfortunately the wait staff was very young and inexperienced. Spilling drinks on the table as well as people. Taking food away from the table 5 minutes after serving it... I personally feel like I was being rushed to eat. And I have to say the food was actually good. When they did clear the dishes from the tables the dropped food not only on the floor but on the table and chairs, and I have witnessed a waiter using the linen from the tables to clean up the dropped food from the chairs, too bad they put the same linen back on the table for the people to use.....

Remember this was my experience with this catering hall. Which I really expected more from them since the people who own this one own many more on the island that many of you may have already booked.

BTB and Brides booked please ask questions to your catering halls regarding the wait staff... It is important that you know that they all have years of experience and will treat your guests wonderful.

Remember you are the bride and you need to be annoying and ask questions to ensure that your day goes excatley the way you want it to be...... The best day ever.....

Re: Chateau Briand- Bad Experience

Like I said this is what I experienced... I just think that the wait staff must have changed within the last few years or even months because years ago it was not this bad.... And regarding questioning the staff... I did at my with my hall and I have also let them know my expectations

Re: Chateau Briand- Bad Experience

Reviews like this are some of what Im looking for. Im planning on the NRC but have not booked yet. I did go to the watermill and loved it. I've been to weddings at Fox Hollow and have another to attend next month and plan to review good and bad if any. The first wedding I went to there was truly horrible but I honestly believe alot of it had to do with the bride planning it last minute. The CH was amazing but the reception was in a downstairs room(I've been told they remodeled since)and it was dark like a dungeon and you felt like you were banished to the basement. The food was horrible. My brocolli(sorry for spelling)was still frozen. The dj they hired was horrible too. His sound system kept fading in and out not only during him playing music but as the grooms grandfather from italy was singing to them. It's a shame when a wedding turns out bad but I plan on learning from others bad experiences as well as my own.

Re: Chateau Briand- Bad Experience

Hi ladies
after reading your post last night I was really upset and afraid actually in question of what I should do? Situations always happen but you don't want to know they happen at the hall you are booked at!!! espically when you've already given them a large amount of money. I feel alittle better today but i'm scared, i definetly intend to speak to the manager @chateau.
thanks ladies for your post good or bad we do need to know.
I'll keep you ladies posted after my meeting.

I feel bad that you were upset, but I am glad that now you know some problems that may happen. It's a good thing you are speaking to your banquet manager regarding issues. I'm glad that you are taking this post a good thing and not a bad.... I hope that your wedding goes according to plan. Keep us updated with the wedding and send some pics of the wedding.... Good Luck...
