Chateau La Mer - hotels??

Has anyone that is having their reception at CLM started looking into this? I called and got info from the Courtyard Marriott on 110 in Farmingdale - and they gave me a quote of $169 a night! I think thats ridiculous. So now I'm asking our OOT guests to drive 4+ hours, spend a fortune on gas, give us a gift and drop close to $200 with tax at a hotel??? Does anyone else think this is absurd?? Has anyone gotten any quotes from other places? I dont want to block something thats TOO far but I feel like its downright rude to expect them to pay that much.

and thats how I feel about that

We are doing the Best Western Bar Hourbour in Mass. Pk on sunrise Highway. Its $125.00 butno bar. We are going to bring coolers to keep drink in and then anyone who wants can hangout in rooms or they have a conference room. The Fdale one isway to much $ for FH family who are the OOTguests. # 516-541-2000.

I am using the courtyard marriot because of the free shuttle service.. If you have to book a shuttle for them it would cost you so much. your guests dont have to book the rooms there, its just a courtesy of you to do this for them...the marriot and the hilton are the closet nicest hotels to clm and i believe that the hilton is more than the marriot... If you guests find it to be too expensive they can look for a diff place to stay.. i wouldnt stress about it...i was a little apprehensive about it at first too until someone said to me what im saying to you...good luck

I checked the site just to get a general idea and i got a price of $249 a night. Theres no way the block discount is gonna be a 100 bucks But I will definitely call them - thank you!

Thats great that you got such a low rate though. I wonder what made them jack up the prices

We blocked hotel rooms there as well. We basicially chose there because of the shuttle service. Knowing my family/friends and FH's Family/friends, I feel a lot more comfortable knowing they are not driving after the reception! Everyone I know who is staying out there does not have a problem with the price. If its a problem, they can find their own hotel.

ETA.. we are also going to pay for a breakfast buffett the next day as a thank you

At least half of my guest are coming from upstate (fh's family) and we are getting married at a church in Northport...so we picked a place in between there and CLM. We found the Wingate by Wyndam in Commack was the cheapest. They also offer a shuttle service but unfortunately it is only for a max of like 15 people and we are going to have around 70 so we chartered a bus to shuttle as well. The rates werent bad...for an august wedding they quoted us $129 and the Hampton Inn right around the corner was $125 group rate. They didnt have a shuttle though. But the hotels are just as nice. HTH Good luck....fm me for more details.

ps....i feel the same way you do about prices and expecting people to pay all that money
