Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
Upstairs room is really nice that's what I will be getting if I book with them (unless I can somehow swing the downstairs).
I just worry how some of the older folk are going to manage on that staircase of theirs
Maybe if I change my date they can work with me. I don't expect them to give up their big room on Labor Day weekend for my wedding of like 120.

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
We were going to have our reception up there but they switched us to downstairs since there were no weddings going on. We love it upstairs - sorry all my pics got deleted but I think Yankeebride (yankee something - yankee theme wedding) was upstairs. Only down side was climbing the steps if you were old.
They are also making the ceilings higher from what I have heard - don't know when or if it has been done.

This wasn't mentionde to me when I was there 3 weeks ago when I was asking if they are planning any renovations! I only ask cause there was 1 or 2 places I had been to that told me they would be doing some.
hmmm I need to talk to my BM again. I do want that downstairs room though, for the sake of the few people at my wedding that are a bit old or have physical disability.
BTW your wedding looked fabulous, I love the green

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
I know that they just redid it up there and they're now blowing out the ceiling for a nice new dome. They're supposed to be taking down the paneling and redoing the carpet. I heard everything is done except the ceiling part, which is supposed to be done by the end of the eyar. I'm getting married there in April next year.
I asked about the no elevator issue and they have a chair that has long poles coming out the sides so 2 people can carry someone up if you have someone who needs assistance.

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
I went there 2 weeks to do my menu.
They've been telling me for months about the elevtor...As of 2 weeks ago no sign of construction even starting.
Now i'ms tarting to get a little worried.... In a recent post a girl posted that she did not like th eplace because it smelled like mold and then had a ton of candles lit.
I have really bad allergies and can never smell a thing. When we went, there were candles lit everywhere i thought it looked very nice. I asked fh couple days ago if he remembers it smelling weid and he said he didnt think it did.
I hope they are not trying to cover something up!!!
And also, I dont like where the bp enters the upstairs room im going to ask to change that entirely around.
O they are going to love me!

I'm hesitant to book until I know/see what this new ceiling will look like I'm going to have to talk to my BM about it. Although I think the room would completely benefit from a dome/higher ceiling.

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
The only negative comment I EVER had about that place was the fact they been talking about this elevator for YEARS and it never happens. I never would count on it being installed.
But what I can say it's way worth it to have your wedding their. I just asked my job to check them out and they booked CLM for 250-300 people for a FSC event. Everyone LOVES the food and service they gave at my wedding. Now they fit more people then usual since there is no dance floor for this event but they just couldn't resist booking there and it cut their budget significantly.
I am even booking a table for New Year's there - that is how much we love going there.

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
They really need that elevator!!
Another concern about me booking them is that. I have a few elderly relatives who may have problems with that, My grandfather recently had a heart attack and hasn't been in the best shape.. I honestly don't know where his physical health will be in 2 years but if the wedding was now, no way he can get up those stairs.

Denise and I are renewing our vows there for our 20th Anniversary on October 4th. We have the upstairs room reserved and I like it better than the downstairs. After the wedding I will post as to how the day went, especially the upstairs room.

Re: Chateau La Mer upstairs room?
According to Lou, they have been fighting with the town to approve the elevator for a while now. They have the ADA on their side, and still nothing. As far as the ceiling goes...they did say something about making it higher and redoing it. I am personally not holding my breath until I see it. They do however, really need to do something about the ceiling. I took my parents there to look at the room after booking the upstairs for the first time, and the first thing my Dad noticed was that some tiles were stained and cracked. If they are not going to redo it, they at least need to fix this. I think all the CLM brides need to say something so it will get done!
