Chateau La Mer -- Upstairs vs Downstairs

Just got back from my visit from CLM...

we went to the upstairs room but there was a wedding being held downstairs...

which room is better?

I think I will have 90-100
but my dad said im underestimating ... it might be 150 at most

Nick said i can have downstairs for a min of 150...

just wanted to know who had their wedding up or down?

I went to visit and we definitely preferred the downstairs room. It was so beautiful with the huge windows and super high ceilings. We actually went there to see the upstairs room only because we are expecting about 120 guests, but after seeing both, we knew we could only go with downstairs. Nick also gave us a minimum of 150.

We had the upstairs room & loved it! The view was amazing - you can actually see further out on the water upstairs, plus I liked the fact that no one would be going past our room if they were coming or going from the other wedding going on. You could totally look in on the other wedding from upstairs, but the downstairs wedding couldnt see ours - I actually prefer the privacy. We had 130 ppl but had to guarantee 110 for upstairs. They said upstairs room can hold up to 180 - but if I did have that many people I would have probable chosen downstairs room for comfort reasons only. What was so nice also about being upstairs is that I had no idea another wedding was going on in the building...and that I liked!

The best 2 people to deal with at Chateau are Nick & Tino. Do not deal with Lou.

Also if you are looking for a wedding day planner or DOC, Gina Griffin of Bleu Diamond Events is the exclusive events planner for Chateau & she is amazing! I had hired her for my DOC before she was events planner at Chateau & she exceeded my expectations 10-fold!

We had the downstairs room....it was STUNNING...the cielings are nice and high, the panoramic windows are breathtaking and it was the perfect size. We had 150 guests and it was excellent! Everyone was comfortable, no crowding at all. (you absolutelyc ould have fit more tables in though if you needed to.) To be honest though, if you are having 90-100 guests I think the downstairs room will be too big...JMO though

And I second the previos poster...deal with Nick if you can..he is amazing!! And gina was our DOC too..FABULOUS! FM if you have any questions or check out my review!

I had the upstairs room. If you are having a smaller wedding then I suggest the upstairs because you will be swimming in the room downstairs.

I picked the upstairs room because of the view. I felt that while the downstairs was more open and had large windows the view is of the parking lot next door.

No matter which room you pick you will have amazing food and service

I wouldnt necessarily say that about the view...but I would suggest before you decide see if you can go back and look at both rooms...they both have a different feel and i think that might help you choose!! GOod luck!

I originally planned on having the upstairs room but once Tino showed us the downstairs...that was it! Love the ceiling and the feeling of the room. It's beautiful!

when we looked at CLM lou only showed us the upstairs room...before you book check both rooms.

It might have been based on the # of guests you gave him. I told him the # we were planning on and it kinda fit both rooms. so we saw both.

Just remember not all your invited guests will say yes and in the current economy many brides are seeing higher # of no's. I had invited of 180 and only had 130 come. Our invited guests were mostly family and we still had a high rate of declines due to travel expanses in this economy.

I suggest looking at your list and thinking about what min you can hit and then worry about the rooms. You get the same amazing service so I don't think you can go wrong in either room.

I had upstairs because we couldn't guarantee the minimum for the downstairs. There was an AMAZING view of the water from up there and being upstairs meant we were away from the other wedding completely. The only drawback to upstairs was that there's no elevator but they do have a chair that they'll carry up so we were able to get DH's grandparents up there with no problem.

We had a Saturday evening and went for the earlier evening (5:30) so we had our ceremony and cocktail hour and we were upstairs by the time the second wedding started downstairs. We never even noticed the other guests until we went outside for some extra shots.

I would say pick downstairs if you can get it just becuase it's a nicer, bigger room but the upstairs is DEFINITELY worth having if you can't get the minimum down there. We had 120 guests and we fit very comfortably.
