I'm completely new to all this and totally loving all the oodles of info i'm picking up here. It's simply awesome.
Does anyone have pics of the upstairs room at CLM?
Has anyone been married at their chapel?

Re: Chateau Le Mer
go look at it before you get hyped up!!!!! don't fall in love with places you have not seen in person and only in photos. i learned from my mistakes!!!!! i was set on one particular hall and then i saw it in person and wanted to vomit....i was so discouraged after that!!!!
good luck...check out several halls before you make your decision!

Re: Chateau Le Mer
awesome! thanks so much!
i know what you mean about falling in love with a place from photos. i did that already, envisioned us there, but didnt realize THAT room was for a group much larger than mine.
& i love this site. i can't imagine - literally could not even imagine what our wedding would be like if not for this site. it's given us many more options besides the one vision normally seen. we are non-traditionalists, non-religious, anti-establishment geeks. and this site has shown us that there are more ways than 1 to celebrate your nuptials besides the standard.
we are looking at 3 West Club in NYC & Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown this weekend - two completely different places, but they both suit us in different ways.
have i mentioned how excited i am?
thanks again ladies! & congrats!

In January, you may be able to get the downstairs room..... I'd talk to them about it.
And, I did like their chapel..... it wasn't downstairs -- like a lot are, didn't have that 'dungeon' feeling..... there were a lot of windows which allowed natural light in.... I liked it.

You should do a search of some RH's on the Bride's Review Board. Girls do a great job at describing their experiences and many post pics too.

Check out Jen2999's Review. She had her reception in the room upstairs at CLM. It's small but it has a spectacular view.
ETA: Also, check out The WOTY's review by Preshy7. They did the mock ceremony in the chapel at CLM, so you might get an idea of what it looks like from the pictures.

I saw pics of the upstairs room, but when i went there, it was a different story. I say you should definetly go there.
How many guest do you plan on having? In other words, why do you choose the upstairs room rather than the atrium ?
FH & I had to guarentee 125pp for the Atrium room (which I am sooooo in love with) but i think we may end up with 180

Just wanted to let you in on an FYI issue we had with the CLM.
There is no handicapped access for upstairs. The way they get handicapped upstairs is to put them on a chair and have them carried up. My FMIL refused to have that happen (she's been such a gem, can you feel the sarcasm?)...
They have the permits in to get an elevator but didn't think it would happen by January...
I'm sorry to be negative - but it is something we had to consider for our families.

Re: Chateau Le Mer
My grandmother would be the only one needed the handicap accesability which everyone has been told they would lhave by next year but it looks like they are not doing anything. I have to agree it is very disappointing but from the looks of it - my grandmother wouldn't of stayed for the reception anyway so we didn't have to worry to much about the stairs.
I originally go upstairs becaues we only had 80 people at the time for our list and figured we would only invite like 10 more people - now our list has exploided to 144 we are now thinking we are going to have 100 people maybe a bit more. Personally Fh and I really like upstairs for our amount of people because I hate feeling tight but I really hate feeling lost in a room. As amazing as the ballroom is we like the privacy of the upstairs room that we still have water views but are not open to the public compleletly for view.
Both rooms are amazing and I am happy to have the upstairs - downstairs is great and amazing but we don't have that many people to fill it.

Yes, upstairs is just as beautiful, but like you said, it you think you will only have about 80 - 100 people, it wouldnt even make sense to consider the atrium. Why dont you give them a call to see if they will be working on the elevator any time soon

They're actually ready to go on getting an elevator in, they're just waiting on permits for the town I believe.

Yes - i know they're waiting - but when we spoke to them about our date he said there was no way he'd have it done by then...that the town is killing him making him wait on the permits. He said once they have approval - it'll be up to 3 months installation.

Re: Chateau Le Mer
I did the same thing. I loved the room in the pics at CLM but then they heard the amount of people i was inviting and wouldn't even allow me to use the bottom room. The room upstairs isn't that nice. Its all mirrors and feels very closed in....but that is my opinion.
Definitely look at everything before you make any big decisions.

Re: Chateau Le Mer
Here I am!!! Angl2001 MOH!!! My ears were ringing! I'm going there is 2 weeks to pay money (as usual) and do my menu... I'll sneak up there and take some pics for you!!!
I think the mirrors on the back wall make it feel more open. Because it reflects the water view from the other side it looks like there's water all around you. The dance floor isn't huge, but I think that is the only downside. There is also a beautiful fireplace up there.
