Did anyone encounter this issue with this hall? My FH Grandmother is in her 80's and can't walk upstairs? We really love this hall and this is the only thing holding us back. They said they would have a few man carry her up the stairs on a chair. Any advice???

Re: Chateau Le Mer No Elevator?
I think I agree with the post below.. since I can see how it would be a problem ...safety, level of comfort with the person being carried.
I think the suggestion of the lower min. for the room downstairs might be an idea to discuss with Nick

What about having it in the downstairs room? If the minimum is too high maybe they can lower it for this reason.

I had a relative in a wheelchair & we had upstairs room. Nick had 4 guys carry him up & then down @ the end of the night. Not a big deal & was so thankful to Nick for helping us out!

they really are accomodating there. Thats really sweet of them. I agree with the option of maybe asking them if you could get the downstairs room and lowering the minimum for you. If you really want CLM let them know and maybe they could do that for you. Good luck! it really is a nice place!

I had the same thing. We had a couple of family members that can't do stairs and one in a wheelchair. Thank God the Surf Club has and elevator.

Sorry, I know everyone keeps saying it's sweet but I think I would feel HUMILIATED being carried up/down a flight of stairs by perfect strangers in public. That would be a big deal breaker to me because a lot of our close family is in need of elevators for various reasons.

Absolutely, and I would imagine that there is some sort of law being broken by not having any accomodations for handicapped patrons.

Re: Chateau Le Mer No Elevator?
I have an aunt in a Wheel Chair and she would NEVER let any one Carry her up the steps. most people would not want a stranger carrying them. That is a pretty long flight too!

Not to mention how absolutely terrifying it would be as well, literally putting your safety into the hands of others.

I think making someone get carried up the stairs would be a total deal breaker. I wouldn't want to be treated like that nor would I have any guest of mine treated like that.

Sorry I have to agree with the others that would be a deal breaker for me too. I would be worried about her falling along with the embarrasment factor. I would definitely go with what one of the other brides and see if they can lower the minimum for the lower room. Just express yor concerns.

Re: Chateau Le Mer No Elevator?
We had that issue too and DH's grandmother and grandfather did the chair and it worked fine. It's a special chair with 4 long rails. There's a bathroom upstairs so there's not really any reason for people to be going up and down more than to arrive and leave.
