Chateau Le Mer or Venetian Yacht Club?

Just wanted your thoughts.... CLM or VYC????

Thanks in advance. I want to decide by tomorrow and am torn.

Both are nice places, but for very different reasons. I think you have to decide which style you like. CLM seems more understated, and VYC is the opposite with loads of marble etc. I also think if price is an issue, CLM is more affordable. I also see more raves about CLm's food... But was partial to the 'look' of VYC when I went.
Hard decision... and I dont think you can go wrong either way. goodluck

i have to agree with the above. I choose CLM and I have only heard the our wedding was one of the best weddings both of our families had ever. Food, service, etc.

I went to the WOTY last year at VYC and DH and I commented how pretty it was but it did lack many positive things CLM had. I thought CLM food was better, service by FAR was better, selection was more what DH and i want, etc.

we were deciding between both for our RH.....

CLM- FH loved the Yacht lol, outdoor area was nice. The downstairs room was nice LOVED the big ceiling but i really hated how the bar and rest of the tables were under that low ceiling....it was like a cave. Big turn off for me. I also didnt like all the mirrors on everything. Plus there was no elevator if you had to be upstairs for older guests.
And more then one wedding at a time in the afternoon too
Plus for a sat afternoon in Summer they wanted 125 pp

VYC-Loved the elegant feel of it. The ceilings were high(that wasa big thing for me) and love hat we have full access to all of the downstairs. Elevator for older guests. Only one wedding in the afternoon. Plus the room matched my dress i almost died ha! Food was amazing at tasting and offered us a little more on the menue
Plus for a sat afternoon in Summer they wanted 95 pp.

So we picked VYC.....wasnt worth that extra 35 a person for a yacht.

Hope that helps and thats just my opinion girls dont eat me :)

the cocktail hour at venetian was delicious but the room is very small. there weren't enough seats for everyone.

the dinner made me sick to be honest. otherwis everything was greatttttttttttttttttttt

clm- we have our xmas party there as well as weddings ive been too-- AMAZING

We just went to a wedding at CLM and were extremely disappointed. We were in the upstairs room which I didn't think was pretty. The entrance was cluttered. The bathrooms small, dark and dingy. Our waiter was a nervous teenager that messed up our dinner orders. It was like the 3 stooges to figure out who ordered what. I had higher expectations based on the girls reviews, but my entire table was not happy. Also the liquor was not top shelf. The drinks were bad.

Debi was just married at CLM, a week ago. As a Mom with painful knees, all the steps were kinda hard to navigate. I told my 80 yr. old Mom, it was a good thing she didn't go; She would have never been able to climb all the steps to the second floor. Mary MOB

You know Jennifer, I wonder if in the hustle and bustle of planning, and being a young couple with no mobility issues, steps aren't taken into consideration. What are the laws in NY, re: handicap accessibility? Mary MOB

Im not too sure But i know that i dont have any cartilage in my right knee and my mom has rods and pins in hers. So stairs are always a bad idea for us....thats part of the reason my FH says no to 2 story homes...so im not in pain.

my grandma always taught me to think of others, esp when planning something so that was litterally my first question when i walked in and saw the stairs, was is there an elevator??? That was part of the reason it was out in my mind first...FH wanted it CLM i wanted VYC......lol i won ;)

I would think you would have to be accessable tho....i mean, if you had to book upstairs cuz downstairs was booked then what would you do?

Hi! I am a CLM bride so I am a little biased, but i did also look at the venetian. THe venetian price was more expensive than the price for CLM. They were also very cold to us when we went to look there. Basically said that since our wedding was only 150 that they couldnt have our ceremony there and it seemed like they didnt even want our business. When I go to CLM I feel like family. I have been to a few events at the venetian and didnt love the food. OUr food tasting at CLM was UNREAL! My vote goes for CLM!

we checked out both - i am biased to VYC - i felt like a princess the moment i walked it - we have the run of the entire building for our sunday afternoon wedding - we have our CH in the downstairs smaller reception room, and our reception upstairs in the larger room (which is usually a 200 minimum - we only have a 125 minimum! ) - i couldnt get over the elegance of that place as opposed to CLM - the price difference was definately worth it - when you go to check it out - call Giulio - i LOVE him!

Thanks so much for everyone's input. After checking out pricing VYC was $20 more per person and they would not allow an evening ceremony. So it made the decision easy. I do love VYC... but CLM had everything I wanted.
Thanks for the input!!!!

Re: Chateau Le Mer or Venetian Yacht Club?

that is a hard decision
I always hear that the food at CLM is so great but when I went to a food tasting there it was just ok (maybe it was an off night or something)
But it is really pretty by the water.

I loved the wedding I went to at the VYC, it just seemed like a higher end place. I wanted to look into having my wedding there but I left about 4 messages & emails & got no response

good luck deciding - you'll make the right decision in the end, they are both nice
