My banquet manager told me that no music was allowed if our cocktail hour was held ouside. Well, i definitely know that means a dj but do they allow live music without any amplifiers? I spoke with a dj and he told me that they allow music if its not too loud and doesn't need amplifiers. I'm asking because I'm playing with the idea of having steel drums during cocktail hour.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
They do allow live music outdoors. But before booking anything I would confirm with CHCC.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
It seems to depend on your BM because my A hole BM said absolutely no music outside at all because there is a noise ordinance in wood bury.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
i think it depends where it is exactly. I got married at WCC (down teh street) and they have 2 diff outdoor CH areas ... one could have amplified music, but the other can't.
speak to your RH to see what they allow.
oh, and as far as i know, live musicians are allowed, just no amplified music. don't quote me on that though.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
my BM said that we're allowed to have music at our cocktail hour as long as it's not amplified.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
They told me, no aplified music. I asked specifically about Steel Drummers and I was told that wasn't allowed.
I then asked very specifically what was allowed, and they told me a harpist, but it would be basically a waste of money because the fountain is so loud that you would only be able to hear it if you were standing next to where the harpist plays.
I'm going with no CH music. I've been to 2 weddings in the past year that haven't had it, and I haven't missed it.
I was bummed b/c I really wanted steel drummers, but I got over it when I realized I was saving money.

Re: CHCC Brides!!
i am booked there and had the same question. I emailed Sharon (my BM) and here is her response (which i of course saved in case the story changes when the time gets closer)...
'The DJ is correct re: amplified music for the cocktail hour by the pool. You can have anything not amplified if you like, but just so you know, with the water and the falls etc. you really do not hear unamplified music. Of course someone can play for you during your ceremony....any kind of music you like. Usually the DJ plays during the ceremony.'
'When you walk down the aisle the music can be amplified..anything you want.'

Re: CHCC Brides!!
Thanks ladies! You have all been very helpful. Now I wish I had Sharon as a BM though . I have Mark but he seems ok so far. Let's see how he gets when I have to really start dealing with him closer to the wedding. I'm leaning towards no music for CH though. Definitely need music for the ceremony though!!
