I am not cheap but I personally would not like to spend more than 50 a person. You think about it they have bought a dress and other stuff for your wedding. It might just seem like 20 more but when you have purchased all of the other stuff it adds up.

I agree, or maybe pay for it all as part of their gifts. Also, have you gone to any of the make-up counters in the department stores? It is usually much cheaper, and sometimes all you have to do is buy a few products. May come out to a/b $50 per person AND your girls will have the make-up they used for touch-ups throughout the day!

Well, why do they have to have their make-up done by someone? Can't they do their own?

I agree..don't think its a matter of being cheap at all...I was in the same position...I was a bridesmaid and didn't have a ton of $$..I did my own makeup and it was fine. Would you consider letting them do their own? Or maybe have a friend or relative who is good at makeup help them out? Being a bridemaid is so expensive in the end, and I don't think the makeup should be so important. Just my opinion!! I am letting my girls choose what they want to do..

I guess you guys have a point maybe I should pay for the difference as part of their gift, but I am already on such a thight budget, and the if I let them do they own make up I am afraid I might have an array of colors and some of them dont normally where makeup so they wont do a good job.

I think it does make a difference you can tell in the pictures which I am paying for and will have forever so I want everyone to look good

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
While I understand about you paying for pictures and wanting everyone to look good, these girls are already laying out a great deal of money to be in your bridal party, so for them to have the added expense of paying for make-up, which is so not something I would think I would have to pay for being in someone's wedding, is a lot to ask. That's just my honest opinion. So if you are on a budget adn cannot pick up the difference, I do not think you can reasonably expect them to all pay for their make-up to be done professionally. Of course it is your wedding and you are entitled to ask them to do whatever you'd like, I am just giving you the perspective of a bridesmaid, since I am going to be in quite a few weddings next year right before my own, I just sympathize with not wanting to spend the money for make-up. Maybe see if your hair salon has a make-up artist, or if the girls can go somewhere and have it done. A lot of times if they go to where the make-up is being done, then they can get it for cheaper. Is that an option?

Then in all honesty if it's that important to you you have to be willing to foot some of the bill. I've been a bridesmaid more times than I can count and never did I pay that much for my makeup. I either did it myself or it was part of my gift. I already paid for dress, shoes, sometimes hotel room, shower, engagement gift... etc.

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
One thing to consider is that if you find a student beautician or aesthetician they would probably be willing to work a deal with you. Also, depending on your total # of women -- if they are all in one place, the vendor might be willing to work with you. So, my rec: -check local aesthetician and beauty schools - maybe put up a posting; great money for them if still training and they get experience and a reference. -check Nadine Graham's (screen name - nsgraham) budget website; she had an number of discount vendors. Please if anyone has it provide link or else, chachou, maybe FM her - I have a couple of times and she is the NICEST! -Another poster mentioned this for something else but check Craig's list - the random stuff you can find there is not to be believed. Best of luck.

Jacqueline Nicole, a vendor here in, charges $55 for bridesmaid make-up. Probably you could pick up the $5 difference. Check her out.

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
I've never been required to get my makeup done in any wedding I've ever been in. Personally, I'd be offended if the bride was requiring me to get it done and pick up the entire expense (esp. over $50). Being in a wedding is expensive enough without tacking that on! JMO...

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
I didn't require that my BMs get their hair or makeup done. They either did it themselves or they had it done by the person I hired for me and my mom. Some did it themselves and some had it done. It worked out, they looked fine and nobody complained.

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
i'm definitely not cheap, but $50 on top of all the other expenses is a lot. just a suggestion: let them find their own artist, or opt out and do their own, or if you really must have this then cover the difference.

Re: cheap bridemaids I think !!!
I am making my BMs get their makeup done. Oksana charges $65 per person if you have over 4 people and the bride is free if you have over 8. For $65 per person, you could pick up the $15 difference per BM. That's what I am doing. I want them to look nice for the wedding and one of them does not do her makeup well at all. So the other BM agreed to get her makeup done because that was the only way the frist BM would get hers done and the second BM knew how important it was to me. But their dresses only cost $150 ad I am not asking them for any other expenses, since my FMIL is paying for the shower.
