Cheap Centerpieces???

Hi all - Reality has hit FH and I in regards to the actual amt of money we are going to be required to spend on our wedding. We are willing go cheap on centerpieces and invitations (and flowers to an extent) - any suggestions? I am considering glass bowls with water and rose petals/and or buds and mirrored trays...anything else? One florist quoted us $4K for centerpieces alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is no way we can afford that. We will probably have 12-14 tables....any help would be appreciated!

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

We're doing glass bowls with floating candles...and nothing else with them! We bought them at Ikea for $3.95 per bowl! They had a few styles to choose from as well as lots of other candle holders, vases, etc.

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

That is a very high quote for centerpieces! You probably went to a very high-end flower shop like James Cress. Try Burtons in Melville or Flowers by Michele (info on this site). You will probably get ALL of your flowers for a lot less than $4K, unless you need 20+ high centerpieces or something.

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

Why don't you try Burtons for flowers? They are a wholsale florist and their prices are good. They have beautiful arrangements. Maybe they can help come up with some inexpensive centerpieces.

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

What about making them yourself if you just want bowls with water and rose petals? That seems like something you could make. That might be your way to do something cheaper but if that isn't up your alley, Burton's is much cheaper than regular florists but their flowers aren't cheap looking.

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

If do low centerpieces, you can have them done for around $60 each if you choose budget flowers. A lot less if you are willing to do them yourself!

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

can your hall rent silk ones to you (i.e. is that an option?). Otherwise, I was considering clear fruitbowls with mixed color real fruit. Our hall was even willing to keep them in a fridge from the day before if we went the route, but we're getting the silk flowers instead b/c its sampler and better matches the atmosphere.

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

This would be extremely economical (under $30 each):

Re: Cheap Centerpieces???

go to pedestals in garden city/floral park. they are down the block from flowers by brian.

we are paying $3600 for everything. 22 centerpieces, 10 bridesmaids, 10 ushers, flowers for the ceremony (outside) and a ton of other stuff.
