Try places in Hempstead. There is a store called Nassau Furniture on Hempstead Turnpike that sells the same furniture from the bigger stores but cheaper. They get it straight from the warehouse.

there are a bunch of furniture places on rt 110, too. we were going to go but then we found much of what we wanted at gothic cabinet craft (which you can also look into - it isn't SUPER cheap but it is an amazing price for the quality)
