Cheap Poll...

i decided to make a poll in case people dont want to tell me the truth.

please be honest...

ask for 'donations' for making monograms? my FH has been hounding me to charge people for the monograms ive been making them. i feel weird asking for money. so he thinks i should ask for donations towards my paypal account.

honestly...what do you think?

I'm on the fence...

I think it really depends... I can understand that it takes time out of your day to make them, and that it is a definite talent to be able to do so! So in that sense, I can see how it might be like a little business... in which case I can understand wanting to charge.

On the other hand, I think of all of us as friends... and sometimes I'll search online for 20 minutes to help someone find the perfect invitation with their colors, or to find a nice cake topper, or whatever the case... and i do so just because i think we're friends, and it's a simple favor for a friend, do you know what i mean?

I can see both sides.... so I'm kind of on the fence. I don't think you'd be 'cheap' by charging, but I think that it takes away a little bit from the spirit of LIW (i.e., brides helping brides)

we're just thinking of ways to make some extra cash. every $ helps.

you're right.... i think a 'donation' would be your best bet! because this way people won't feel obligated to pay for your service, but they can still express their gratitude!

I agree there's a certain spirit to helping other brides but maybe you could turn it into a legitimate business?

I certainly have no idea how to make them!

I don't understand why anyone would thing that you are being cheap...

You are providing a service form them, in which you are entitled to be paid. And I also think it shouldn't be a dontation...

I don't know how much they should cost but I am thinking if you went to any other graphic designer it would cost the person a lot more then $1.00 or maybe even $100 b/c you are paying for that persons time and talent.

Your making a product for someone, they should be paying you for not only for what you are making for them and for all the time you are spending working on each item as well.... or at least pay for the materials.
